Top Three Thrift Stores in Sacramento

Name Brands, Thrifting, Used Clothes

With todays down turn in the economy — and the upturn in gas prices –saving a dollar or two isn’t just a monetary benefit, but more of a necessity just to put food on the table.

So, what do you do when the need for clothes is on the “to buy” list? Just what some people have been doing for years: thrifting. With a mix of new, vintage and gently used clothes, you can’t lose anything but your sense of despair at your finances, when you visit these stores.

Here’s the top three thrift stores in Sacramento that I have come to love — and can’t live without– through my thrifting adventures.

Thrift Town

Okay, hands down, this is absolutely my favorite thrift store in all of Sacramento. The clothes are organized and separated, the store is very clean and with a new color tag sale (50% off that color tag) on clothes, books, accessories and china every day, you will save extra on already low prices whether you want to or not. From Banana Republic, Ann Taylor and other name brands, to toys and collectibles, I never leave this place without at least 2 items … every single time. I frequent the Carmichael location, but visit www.thrifttown.com to find the location closest to you.

Good Will

These stores have always been a favorite of mine. It’s an oldie but goodie. There are many locations, and their stores are all just as clean and well-lit. And even if their prices are a bit higher than other stores, they still have holiday sales. And name brands pop up constantly; from Fubu to Ralph Lauren. The merchandise is top-notch. Really, when we purchase from a Goodwill store, we are giving back to our community. So, in a way, we are giving and receiving all at the same time. There are at least three stores that I know of in the area, so visit www.goodwill.com to find the location nearest you.

Eco Thrift

I just visited Eco Thrift the other day for the first time. Can you say “wow”? The place is enormous, has rows of racks of great clothing, shoes and accessories. There is even an antiques section, with a display of fabulous glassware and collectibles; perfect if you’re looking for that special gift (even for yourself). They too have a color tag sale every day, which means extra savings passed on to the buyer looking for an extra great deal. I saw Abercombie & Fitch, Old Navy and too many amazing other brands to list. They have two locations in the greater Sacramento area. I went to the lovely Citrus Heights location, but visit www.ecothrift.com for more information.

Even if you just need a new toaster, or a bit of pizzazz to spark up your everyday wear, thrift stores are an economical and fun way to accomplish this sometimes mundane task. Visit one or all of these listed stores, and you’ll catch the thrift store bug that I’ve had –and can’t seem to get rid of — for the past twenty years.
