Top Ten Songs by Nickelback

Chad Kroeger, Nickelback

Nickelback was founded in Hanna, Alberta in 1995,since then, they have been on a rocket to the top of the charts. The name derived from the nickel in change Mike Kroeger’s brother frequently had to give customers back in his job at a Starbucks coffee shop in which he would say, “Here’s your nickel back.”

Their top 10 Songs to date are a mix of their grunge rock style along with a touch of heavy metal, and even slight country influences. The songs deal with a variety of topics including romance, breakups, and domestic abuse. When I first heard Nickelback I wasn’t sure I liked them usually I don’t care for hard rock, but as the released more and more songs I knew I was hooked, and I had to have their Cd’s. With there latest record it’s no exception, I love every song on it. They have a variety of songs including a few slower songs. Some of the material they write about might not be suitable to everyone, as they do use some lyrics that people may find offensive. They tell a story with each song, whether good or bad. The song How you remind me was the second song ever to be number one on both the American and the Canadian charts, They have five cd’s out including, Curb, The State, Silver Side Up, The Long Road, and their latest album All the right reasons. The Long Road and Silver Side up have both gone platinum more then once and the songs have spent several weeks on the charts.

Here are their Top 10 Songs based on my opinion. Title first followed by album the song is from.
10.Rockstar (All the Right Reasons) tells the story of how they are going to live now that they are stars. It pokes fun at the way they spend their money.

9.Too Bad (Silver side up) tells the story of how a father walked out on his family and how bad his mother always said things were.

8. Never Again (Silver Side up) tells of a little boy who hears his mother getting beat by his father, until one day she gets a gun and shoots him to stop the abuse.

7.Someday (The Long Road) a song about someone leaving a relationship and why they didn’t see the signs, and tries to make it work out.

6. Figured You Out (The Long Road) talks about a relationship with a drug addict and how they finally figured them out.

5.Photograph (All The Right Reasons) tells of looking at old photos and remembering all the good times they had with old friends and girlfriends.

4.Savin’ Me (All The Right Reasons) asks for someone to save them, keep them out of trouble, make them know that life is worth living.

3.If Everyone Cared (All The Right Reasons) Is a great song, tells of how if everyone cared the world would be a better place and people wouldn’t be killing others.

2.Far Away (All The Right Reasons) a relationship was broken and now they are back together and he tells how he had been to far away for a long time.

1.How You Remind Me (Silver Side Up)
Talks about how bad it was living with him and how he drank to much and someone kept reminding him of that.

This was a tough choice as there are several others I could have added; I can’t wait to hear what they come out with next. They have definitely converted me to listen to rock. I look forward to seeing Nickelback on the charts for some time to come, And I Don’t think that will be a problem with all of there record sales. Their latest record has sold more then 5 million copies in less then a year.
