Top Ten Gift Ideas for a Broken Hearted Girl Friend

Top 10 Gifts for a Broken-Hearted Girl

If you’re not her now, you’ve probably been her before. You know who I’m talking about, the recently dumped or severely rejected girl who is so sad and so broken hearted that she can hardly begin to think about the holidays or gifts. You can ask her what she wants but chances are she’s too depressed to really want anything. But you know, as well as I do, that there are some things that she just has to have, and I’m here to tell you what those things are.

1.Alcohol
I’m assuming our girl if over 21, and even if she isn’t, I’m not naïve enough to think the young ones can’t get their hands on it. A good bottle of wine, a case of beer or some type of liquor. Whatever her poison is, she needs it now, and she needs a lot of it. I’m well aware alcohol doesn’t solve your problems, but it is the “great enabler. It’s going to give her the chance to get out the bad feelings, vent, cry and maybe even just escape some of the pain for awhile. The hangover the next morning, will also remind her that as nice as escaping with alcohol can be, it NEVER gets rid of the problem, they always come back the next day but this time, the problem comes with a heachache.

2.Kelly Clarkson “Breakaway” CD
Girl power lyrics + rocking beats = perfect single girl cod. This CD can single handedly make your girl pump her first in independence to songs such as “Gone”, cry to the lyrics of “Because of You” and scream out her anger in the mega hit “Since U’ve Been Gone”. This CD is the perfect mix for any girl who has ever felt anything. Nothing makes a broken-hearted girl feel better than a CD that knows how you feel.

3.A Makeover
You get dumped or rejected and you automatically start doubting and/or questioning yourself. “What’s wrong with me?” “Why aren’t I good enough?” While the problem doesn’t necessarily have to do with you at all, you’re always going to think it does. Our girl here is no different. She’s feeling ugly, unattractive, unwanted. So what’s our solution? Makeover! Take her to her favorite makeup counter in the local department store and let the makeup artists there perform their magic. Go for a whole new look and then take it out for a spin at your favorite night spot later that night. It instantly ups her self confidence and puts her in a good mood for the rest of the day.

4.A journal
Everyone needs a place to get out their feelings and emotions. Sometimes you don’t want to share everything with your friends. Give her the gift that will keep on giving, and we all know it’s cheaper than a shrink! A journal is the perfect place for her to write those nasty, “You are the worst thing that’s every happened to me” stories, pep talks to remind herself about how great she really is or letters to the man who broke her heart – -she wasn’t going to send them anyway, so they may as well be in a safe place.

5.Tickets to a musical/play/concert that she loves but he wouldn’t have been caught dead at
He would never take her to see a play on Broadway, even though he knows how much she loves it, so YOU take her. She’s your friend, she needs the pick me up, and what better way to get it than doing something she enjoys with a girlfriend. You taking her will remind her how crappy it was that she was dating a guy that couldn’t put her enjoyment before his own and what a great friend you are.

6.The Rabbit
When you’re going from regular sex to no sex it can be very frustrating. Make her transition easier and give her the gift that really gives back. The Rabbit, lauded by Sex in the City, is an excellent choice although it’s not the only option. Head on out, check out your favorite X-rated shop and pick out what you think might be appropriate. She may be embarrassed at first, but I guarantee she’ll get a good laugh out of it and then a few good times later on…

7.Sex in the City DVDS
Any season, or the whole collection if possible, and then settle in for a long night with the girls and a cocktail or two. No one knows or talks about relationships as frankly and humorously as the girls from SITC. She can laugh along with them and even add an anecdote or two about her own relationships. She’ll learn something, she’ll laugh and you’ll all have a good time.

8.A Get-Away
Take her away. It doesn’t matter if it’s to a hotel in the city or 2 hours away, get her out of the apartment and away from her memories for a night. Changing her scene will relax her and get her focusing on herself as opposed to the failed relationship. It’s a place where she can dodge phone calls, bills, and regular life as she knows it. Never underestimate the power of a quick get-away.

9.Mall/Store gift certificate
Retail therapy is very real and actually does work for people. Buy a gift certificate to her favorite store or mall and let the merchandise do it’s magic. Whether it comes in the form of a sweater, a pair of shoes or coconut body lotion, every girl has some item that she loves to shop for. Hand over the gift certificate and take her on a retail therapy session, you may even find something for yourself while you’re at it.

10.A sweet indulgence
Whether it’s a pint of Ben and Jerry’s, a Cinnamon Bun, or a Milk Way bar, every girl has some sweet thing that just makes her happy thinking about it. Bring her favorite, or better yet, take her out to get her favorite treat and allow her to indulge her sweet tooth and her feelings. She’s going to want to talk about all that she’s feeling and there is no better way to do it than over a Reese’s Pieces Sundae.

These gifts are etched in stone, they don’t necessarily work for every broken hearted girl in your life but the basic concepts apply. The important thing is that you, her friend, is there for her. Gifts, while appreciated, can never take the place of a true female friendship.
