Top Ten Challenging Karaoke Songs

Karaoke Songs

Karaoke competitions are often hard to win. There are so many factors involved in the judge’s decision. Often, crowd appeal will play a major part in the decision of who will win. Or, maybe the winner was the one who had no mistakes and didn’t have to look at the words at all throughout the song. Consider the impact that a vocally challenging song will have on the judging process. If the judges are professional singers themselves or true musicians, they will see the difficulty in performing a challenging karaoke song. Here are ten vocally challenging karaoke songs for karaoke competitions.

1. Never Let You Go (Angel Eyes). I don’t know that I’ve ever heard anyone pull off this karaoke song by Steelheart perfectly. I’ve heard one or two people try. I myself have gotten the courage to try and sing this song, and sometimes I’ve come close. I challenge anyone to try this song and hit every note clearly and with power.

2. Dream On by Aerosmith. Can you hit those last few notes in this vocally challenging song by Aerosmith. Steven Tyler certainly has an incredible voice, and one that is hard to repeat.

3. Where Would You Be by Martina McBride. This song has some really high power chords that are hard to hit. Many karaoke singers might be able to pull of these notes with their higher range voice, but what about singing it right at the crossover voice between low and high? I challenge you.

4. Barracuda by Heart. There are some really hard to hit notes in this Heart song. Really, almost any song by Heart is going to be hard to sing. The Wilson sisters really had some lungs on them!

5. Purple Rain. Try hitting those high notes as Prince does like no other. Sometimes it makes me cry when I hear Prince singing this song, just thinking about the passion that is put into those high notes.

6. Creep by Radiohead. I think I know of only one band whose singer can sing this song impeccably, Fools and Horses out of Baltimore, MD. Matt Hutchison of Fools and Horses sings this song like only Radiohead can. Can you sing it that well, that’s the question!

7. Fly to the Angels by Slaughter. I don’t know that I’ve ever heard any karaoke singer or band perform or sing this song. I think it’s because it’s almost impossible to repeat the vocals. Try it, I dare you!

8. I Remember You by Skid Row. There are many people who sing this song, and it sounds decent. But to really put power behind the vocals like Sebastian Bach is another thing.

9. Let the Bodies Hit the Floor. This song has alot of screaming, so if you’re going to sing it be ready to lose your voice. If you can scream like this and still have your voice, you’re an incredible singer in my book!

10. I Will Always Love You by Whitney Houston. Any song by Whitney Houston, Mariah Carey or Celine Dion to me is hard to sing vocally. If you can sing either this tune or any other one by these three artists, give yourself a pat on the back!
