1. Cabela’s offers a 10″ hurricane lantern that has an 8-ounce fuel capacity that allows it to run for a full 11 hours without having to be refilled. The hurricane lantern will run on lamp oil, kerosene, or citronella oil, which will help keep insects away if using the hurricane lantern for camping or other outdoor events. Cabela’s offers their hurricane lantern for $24.99, making it the best buy of the list. They offer this hurricane lantern in hunter green, red, black, bronze, and tin colors.
2. The Survival Store online also offers a 10″ hurricane lantern in red, black, blue, and hunter green colors. It also has an 11-hour burn time without refilling the 8-ounce fuel tank. At a price of only $24.90 you would think that their hurricane lantern would be higher on the list, however their brand is not a Dietz brand hurricane lantern. Dietz is the highest quality hurricane lantern and for a few cents more a purchase from Cabela’s would give the buyer a better product.
3. The Ready Store only offers a 12″ hurricane lantern but it only burns kerosene. Unlike Cabela’s or The Survival Store brand of hurricane lanterns, The Ready Store’s version cannon use citronella oil or lamp oil. At only $9.49 per lantern, it is the most inexpensive on this list.
4. Y2Klanterns.com also offers a 10″ Dietz brand hurricane lantern, however this hurricane lantern only has a 6-ounce fuel capacity but it still retains an 11-hour burn time without refilling the fuel reservoir. This hurricane lantern is available from Y2Klanterns.com for $39.00.
5. Vermont Lanterns, which is associated with Y2Klanterns.com, offers the same hurricane lantern, a 10″ Dietz brand hurricane lantern, however their prices are much more expensive. The 10″ hurricane lantern, available in brass color, has been marked down from the normal $79.97 to the current price of $59.97. Most of Vermont Lanterns products are more expensive, their hurricane lanterns run in cost from $60 to $190. The specifications of these hurricane lanterns are the same as the ones offered by Cabela’s or Y2Klanterns.com.
Hurricane lanterns are both useful and decorative. Hurricane candles and candle powered hurricane lanterns are also available, but they are more for decorative purposes instead of being functional.
