These days, it is a bit more difficult to pick out what might be the best kids scooters since they are now so popular and there are so many different brands and models to choose from. With a bit of looking into, I was able to compile a list of the top 5 scooters for kids (gotten from a list of the top 10 scooters for kids this year, 2010):

E300 Electric Kids Scooter from Razor – This is apparently the best selling of the electric scooters for kids from Razor this year. It has more features than earlier models (the Razor E100 and E200, plus a few more), with a great ride on even quite rough surfaces. It also has a wider deck and other features that provide added stability and increased control. The maximum weight for this scooter is 220 lbs, and the recommended age is for kids age 12 and older.

My First Scooter from Radio Flyer – This scooter is a great choice for toddler age kids. It has three wheels (two in the front to make control a bit easier), and a nice wide deck for little ones to stand on. I was not able to find a weight limit for this scooter, but the age recommendation is for little ones 2 to 5 years of age.

A Kick Scooter from Razor – This I believe is the original “kick” model from Razor and is still the most popular for this particular type of scooter after being on the market for some years. The reason for the popularity (based on my guess) is the fact that it is such a well known name and model, as well as the fact that it’s known for simply being a great scooter for kids. It also has a lower price tag than some of the more advanced kick scooters available, making it a more affordable purchase. The weight limit for this scooter is 143 pounds, with a recommended age of 5 and older.

A5 Lux Scooter from Razor – What an interesting scooter this one is! It has quite a high capacity for weight and is even able to adjust in height to accommodate an adult! (We just may see more “big kids” riding the streets on a scooter to get to work!) This scooter has features that make its handling quite smooth even on rough roads and other surfaces, and is also known for its ability to give more cruise with less push and effort. The weight limit for this scooter is 220 pounds, with a recommended age of 8 years and older.

Pro Model Scooter from Razor – This scooter is known to be a great freestyle kick scooter model, designed and tested out by professionals. This scooter would be a better choice for young “stuntsters” and would also apparently work just fine for on the street scooter use. The recommended age for this model from Razor is 6 and older.

Yes, many more scooters are available to choose from, ranging from toddler scooters to more kick scooters and even motor and electric scooters for kids. However, if one of the above “best scooters for kids” suits your needs, it is almost certain that you would end up being happy with the purchase.
