Whether you live near the city of Seattle Washington or you’re just visiting for a family vacation, the Fourth of July is a great time to plan a memorable holiday getaway. There are many events to choose from whether you prefer a big city extravaganza or a small suburban calibration. Here is a list of events to keep in mind this Forth of July in and around Seattle.

Fourth of Jul-Ivars– This event occurs in downtown Seattle in Myrtle Edwards Park near Pier 70 at the Waterfront. It is named after Ivers seafood restaurant, which is a big name around the Seattle aria and throughout the Northwest USA. The restaurants founder, Ivar Haglund, was asked 40 years ago to put on a fireworks display for the city. He did so and, as a result, this fireworks display has been put on every year since. This is the perfect outing for those who love the outdoors. Festivities continue though out the day featuring live entertainment and food. The event comes to a spectacular end at 10:00 pm with the fireworks display across the city’s skyline. This event is deemed Seattle’s largest fourth of Fourth of July celebration with some 300,000 visitors each year. Parking downtown is free on July 4th so some good advice it’s arrive early to make sure you get a spot and also be sure to bring a blanket to lay out and relax.

Symetra Bellevue Family 4th– This event is located on the eastside of Seattle in downtown Bellevue. This festival type atmosphere features food booths, various activities for the children, live music and a beautiful fire works display to end the night. Admission is free however any donations will help to support summer programs for children and teens.

Seattle Aquarium Celebration– This event features a live jazz party, picnic style food and fun activities for children. A great benefit of attending is, since the aquarium is located on the waterfront, you get a front row view for the fireworks display over Elliott Bay. There is a charge but it includes all activities listed and afterwards you can linger to look around the aquarium while the outside traffic settles down.

Grand Old Fourth Celebration- This is an all day event which features a pancake breakfast, a street fair, carnival rides and an evening fireworks display. The location is Bainbridge Island near the city of Seattle. The best place to park is near the fairy terminal and parking is free on the Fourth of July.

Washington Mutual Family Fourth At LakeUnion– This popular event takes place in Gasworks Park at Lake Union. The highlight of this event is an elaborate, twenty seven minuet long fireworks display choreographed to music of all types. Before the fireworks the kids are sure to be entertained with many activities including a chalk art aria, a tie-dye booth, an inflated obstacle course and a Lego building block city. This is a great outing for the whole family to enjoy. Please be sure to arrive very early, take a bus, or perhaps bike if possible as late comers may have trouble finding parking due to its popularity and limited parking at Gasworks park. If you’re not able to attend simply tune in to King 5 TV to watch the fireworks from the comfort of the nearest local TV or listen to a live broadcast of the music from the fireworks on the radio. There are several local stations that broadcast. These are only a few of the many opportunities to have a fun filled Fourth of July in the Seattle Washington aria. Weather celebrating with a family outing in downtown Seattle or having a small, quiet gathering in your own back yard hopefully this list sparks a few ideas that will make this Fourth of July one to remember.
