Top 5 Date Ideas in the DC Metro Area

Bilbo Baggins, Date Spots

If you’re looking to impress a woman for the first time or for the 50th time here are some date spots in Northern Virginia (NOVA) and Washington DC that you are both sure to enjoy. I’ve tried all of these before and had an amazing date. Here are the Top Five Date Ideas:

PX Lounge

Is a 20s speakeasy where the drinks are all handmade to perfection. You won’t be getting natty pitchers here. It is a very tiny establishment so you will need reservations to ensure you can get a table. I recommend you request to sit at the bar so you can watch the drinks being made. They have very small stuff to snack on, but not a meal so be sure to eat before. Great for after dinner drinks and first dates.

Open – Wednesday-Saturday 6 pm to close

Location – 728 King St Alexandria, VA 22314 (Blank door with blue light next to it, look for a pirate flag…not kidding at the corner.)

Price – Expensive

Dress – Nice, men need to wear jackets and women need to be dressed up. The nicer the better because it makes you feel fancy when plastered.

Arlington Cinema Draft House

They have different events every night. Movies, stand up, magic, and sports events to name a few. Depending on the girl this can be a great choice. Very casual and not fancy. This won’t impress her as much as you’ll have a good time. Be sure to bring cash for the tickets at the door. If you’re early there is a bar connected to the theater with the slowest service on earth.

Open – Daily check show times

Location – 2903 Columbia Pike, Arlington VA

Price – Moderate for beer, pricy for mixed drinks, food is average

Bilbo Baggins (Old Town Water Front)

You can walk around old town or the water front, maybe even do some shopping and then get dinner at Bilbo Baggins and grabs some drinks. They have an amazing selection of beers from around the world. A cozy place with a humorous Lord of the Rings theme will give you plenty to talk about on those awkward first dates.

Open – Sunday-Thursday 11:30am to 12am and Friday-Saturday open until 2am.

Location – 208 Queen St, Alexandria, VA 22314-2613

Price – Not bad for the selection.

Dress – Whatever you want.

DC Roller Derby

I don’t usually enjoy sports, but Roller Derby is amazing! Even if you never go back it’s an event both of you will remember. Plus the match is out early enough to where you can still go out on the town. Located conveniently on the orange line at the Stadium Armory stop you won’t have to worry about parking. Even if you don’t like the Derby the Half Time show is always entertaining. The upcoming bouts are below and I hope to see you there. They serve beer and food at the event, but it is kind of steep and the food isn’t very good. The ATM on location is always out of money so bring cash if you want food, drinks, or DC Roller Derby merch. I would pregame or go out afterwards.

Jefferson Memorial and FDR Memorial

The great thing about these two is they are both free, outdoors, and 24/7. Walking is really the best way to visit both of these. I would suggest bringing a picnic to eat and making an evening, day, or night of it. The FDR Memorial also has rest rooms if needed. If you are on foot you’ll also see many other attractions nearby like the World War I Memorial and the saucy statue of George Mason. I would start at Thomas Jefferson and then follow Ohio Dr SW and you’ll see George on your left, cross the bridge and follow the path and you’ll find FDR. If you keep going you’ll hit Independence Ave and the WWI Memorial is hidden beyond the trees. She’ll be impressed that you brought food and planned an entire outing.

FDR Memorial, 900 Ohio Dr. SWWashington, DC 20024
