Top 3 Bars in Southington, CT

Sara Evans, Top 3 Bars

Southington, CT is not the largest place around. We are a town, so the amount of good bars is limited in my opinion, but these three establishments offer a little more than the other places in our quaint little town and I will tell you why.

1) Sam The Clam’s

This bar is located at 1303 Meriden/Waterbury Tpke. in Plantsville, a small village that is a part of Southingtin. Now, this Pub has character. You have statues of Marilyn Monroe and the Blues Brothers on the front area of the restaurant, so you know you are at the right place, when you see them. Sam’s has an aquatic theme, making you feel you are in a ship and below deck, even having bubbling windows, so you feel you are under the sea.

It is not the biggest place, but it features a full bar, amazing fresh fried seafood, and the prices are great. You can eat in, take it to go, or eat outside at the picnic tables. It has a really laid back atmosphere which makes it a busy place, especially on weekends, but your patience will be worth the wait.

2) Cadillac Ranch Restarant

The Cadillac Ranch is a really fun place to go. It is located at 45 Jude Lane in Southington. Besides being a full bar, it is Southington’s favorite spot for all things Country. There are country line dancing, karaoke and even dance lessons in both line and partner dancing. They have also featured MANY of country music’s most famous singers there, from The Rascal Flats to Sara Evans to Brad Paisley.

They have a delicious menu from appetizers like Toasted Jalepno Ravioli to burgers, sandwiches and entrees like Memphis Chicken and Baby Back Ribs. Their array of Wings, a favorite in Southington, is also quite extensive. They have them in Mild, Medium, Hot, Tijuana Death, and 7 flavored varieties. It also has some pool tables and games if you are not into dancing. And they also havea mechanical bull which many drunken cowfolk have tried to conquer and even when they fail, they have fun!

3) Slider’s Sports Bar & Grill

Slider’s Southington location is found at 1219 South Main St. This is the place to go if you are a sports enthusiast and are looking for a bar. They have 16 drafts including Slider’s own IPA.They are most famous for their chicken wings. In fact, Bon Jovi requested Slider’s chicken wings be delivered to their private jet after they finished their concert and have said that the next time they return to CT, they will request them again! Since 1998, they have been voted best wings in the state and come in 16 flavors!!

Their entire menu is available to eat there or take-out until midnight every day of the week. From the wings, which come in flavors ranging from Flamin’ Raspberry to Garlic Parmesan, to the rest of their menu, there is something for everyone. Chili, burgers(including veggie, deli-style sandwiches, salads, wraps, etc. They have it all! They even now fry in 0 trans-fat oil!
