When I was a young boy I enjoyed professional wrestling because of the colorful characters and the even more colorful outfits. I always enjoyed a good masked wrester and these are the 10 greatest masked wrestlers in the history of the WWE.
10th Best Masked Wrestler In WWE History: Repo Man
Okay, so this is a stretch but the WWE has never been loaded with Mexican wrestlers like WCW so there haven’t been as many great masked wrestlers. I always liked the Repo Man. His gimmick was pretty stupid but that is why it was so fun.
9th Best Masked Wrestler In WWE History: Kim Chee
Kim Chee was not an actual wrestler in the WWE but he was a very underrated manager in the late 80’s and early 90’s and he managed one of my all-time favorite wrestlers Kamala.
8th Best Masked Wrestler In WWE History: Ultimo Dragon
If this were a top 10 masked wrestlers in WCW list then the Ultimo Dragon could be as high as number two but unfortunately Vince McMahon didn’t know what to do with a wrestler that was totally awesome so Ultimo Dragon never got to make an impact in the WWE.
7th Best Masked Wrestler In WWE History: The Patriot
The Patriot was a very short lived character in the WWE but he had some entertaining feuds and good matches with the likes of Bret Hart and Vader. The Patriot also originally had Kurt Angle’s “YOU SUCK” theme song.
6th Best Masked Wrestler In WWE History: Chainsaw Charlie
For a brief time in the 90’s Terry Funk joined the WWE and dressed up as Chainsaw Charlie, a maniac that swung a chainsaw around all the time. Charlie would often team up with Cactus Jack who was equally insane.
5th Best Masked Wrestler In WWE History: Vader
Vader is another example of a masked wrestler that would rank higher if this was a WCW list but Vader was never properly used in the WWE.
4th Best Masked Wrestler In WWE History: Rey Mysterio Jr.
Rey Mysterio Jr. in WCW would probably be number one but let’s think about his WWE career only. Rey did have a pretty successful tag team run with Edge but other than that his run in the WWE has been pretty boring and disappointing. Injuries have also slowed Rey down and he doesn’t take as many high risk moves anymore.
3rd Best Masked Wrestler In WWE History: Hurricane Helms
There was a period in time when any Hurricane Helms segment would be the highlight of the show. Hurricane had many classic interviews backstage and Helms could also wrestle great in the ring.
2nd Best Masked Wrestler In WWE History: Kane
Kane might not be the wrestler that Hurricane Helms or Rey Mysterio Jr. is but Kane has a long storied past with the WWE and is very popular with the WWE fans.
Best Masked Wrestler In WWE History: Mankind
In the end it isn’t really a contest. Mankind is easily the best masked wrestler in the history of the WWE, even if you only include his Mankind persona. If you add all of Mick Foley’s characters then this choice is even easier.
