Top 10 College QBs 2012

I am going to be breaking down who I believe are the top 10 QB prospects for next year’s draft and why.

#10 Connor Shaw- South Carolina: Shaw will get his opportunity to show what he can do as a starter after getting limited time last year. When he did play though he showed some great things. The game I watched him play was against Nebraska where he went 11 of 17 passing for 230 yards and threw for two touchdowns. After watching him play, it seems as though he will have a promising future. Not to mention he has one of the best RB’s in the NCAA for next year, and should open a lot of windows for him.

Last Year’s Stats: Passing- 123-188 for 1448 yards 14 TD 6 INT with a 65% completion %%

#9 Denard Robinson- Michigan: Denard is one of the most dynamic players in all of college football. He has been judged on his passing ability, but he has this last year of college to improve it to make him a higher rated player. Denard led his team this past season in both passing and rushing yards. With some time spent on his throwing, I believe he can become a more efficient QB and find a spot in the NFL eventually.

Last Year’s Stats: Passing: 142-258 for 2173 yards 20 TD 15 INT with a 55% completion %

Rushing: 1176 yards and 16 TD combined for a total of 36 TD’s

#8 E.J Manuel- Florida St: Even though Manuel and the Florida St Seminoles didn’t live up to last year’s expectations, they still made it to a bowl game and Manuel still put up good numbers. E.J went out on a good note last year by completing 20 of 31 passes for 249 yards, and hopes to continue that into next season.

Last Year’s Stats: Passing: 203-311 for 2666 yards 18 TD 8 INT with a 65.3 % completion %

#7 Geno Smith- West Virginia: Geno is a very talented quarterback, who puts up great numbers and is smart with the ball. Some take away from all of his stats because of the weak conference they play in. But Geno is a legit Quarterback and is well deserving to be on the top 10 QB’s

Last Year’s Stats: Passing: 346-526 for 4385 yards 31 TD 7 INT with a 65.8 completion %

#6Tajh Boyd-Clemson: Boyd did not end last year’s season the most ideal way, by receiving a 70 to 33 beat down. Where he threw 2 int’s. Besides that game, he really had a productive season throwing for 4000 yards. Is main down side is throwing INT’S where he threw 12 last year.

Last Year’s Stats: Passing: 298-499 for 3828 yards 33 TD 12 INT with a 59.7 completion %

#5 Tyler Wilson-Arkansas: Wilson helped his Razorbacks tie a school record for wins last season with 11. Some notable games to watch him play next year to see how he compares are when the take on LSU and Alabama who both return a lot of players and will both be really good again. A well deserving top 10 QB.

Last Year’s Stats: Passing: 277-438 for 3638 yards 24 TD 6 INT with a 63.2 completion %

#4 A.J McCarron- Alabama: McCarron was over looked all season long mainly because he only threw for 16 touchdowns. But I believe the championship game was his coming out party. I think we will see a much better QB next year with improved stats. Definitely a player to watch in the upcoming season.

Last Year’s Stats: Passing: 219-328 for 2634 yards 16 TD 5 INT with a 66.8 completion %

# 3 Aaron Murray- Georgia: Murray is one of the best quarterbacks in the NCAA next season. The fact that he playing in the SEC against some of the best teams in the country, will make it a tougher road for him. But he is quite capable and showed that by his stats and play from last year.

Last Year’s Stats: Passing: 238-403 for 3149 yards 35 TD 14 INT with a 59.1 completion %

#2 Keith Price- Washington: Price is clearly one of the best QB’s in the nation and showed that last year in the Alamo Bowl where he threw for 438 yards and 4 touchdowns. He is a great talent and has a promising future.

Last Year’s Stats: Passing 242-362 for 3063 yards 33 TD 11 INT with a 66.9 completion %

#1 Matt Barkley USC: I think Matt Barkley was pretty much a given for the number 1 spot and is one of the top players to be expected to be competing for the Heisman Trophy. Some say if he would’ve left he would’ve been a better pick than Luck. Some people over looked him and didn’t realize that he had a better year than Luck, he threw for more yards and fewer interceptions.

Last Year’s Stats: Passing: 308-446 for 3528 yards 39 TD 7 INT with a 69.1 completion %
