Toilet Battles: Which Stall is the Cleanest?

You have held it for as long as you could. You can no longer bear the uncomfortable sensation that you feel. It is officially time to make a stop to the public toilet! You walk into the restroom and what do you do? Walk down to the very last stall. Why is this? Why do we feel the urge to go to the very last stall when we subconsciously know that it is the dirtiest? This article will focus on which stall to pick the next time you head to your local public toilet.

The big question is why do we always choose the very last stall? Upon questioning a few people about this, I have found that many people have the mindset that the stalls in the middle or at the end are the cleanest. Considering that many people assume that the latter stalls are the cleanest, this is what actually makes them the dirtiest! I can personally say that the stalls towards the middle and end are usually always unclean and lacking the appropriate amount of toilet paper. It is as if janitors do not even bother the last stalls.

There are two different theories that I have come up with about this subject and you can personally choose whichever to believe. I will reveal my personal opinion at the end of the article on which stalls are the cleanest.

My first theory is that many believe that people choose the first few stalls because they feel that people are too lazy or too much in a haste to go to the end. What is wrong with this theory, if anything is? Ponder this while I explain my second theory.

My second theory is that many people do not use the first stall for fear that it is not private enough. Indeed, it is not as secluded as the latter stalls but think of all the people who have gone to the end searching for a little privacy. Does this make you feel a bit uneasy about using the last few stalls? It surely makes me feel that way!

Now, what are your opinions of these two theories? I personally believe that theory two seems a bit more accurate because when most people who are in an emergency go to a public restroom, they immediately just try to find a clean stall. It does not matter if it is the first stall, third stall, or tenth stall, as long as they make it to some stall. Theory two is more accurate because it is almost human nature to go somewhere private when handling private business. Although this may seem like a common sense approach, some people could care less about which stall to handle their business in. As long as it is handled.

All in all, I personally believe that the first stall is the cleanest because many people handle too much private business in the latter stalls. Although some may disagree with me, I have been using the first stall for awhile and rarely have encountered filthiness. As far as the latter stalls, I have encountered more than enough filthiness and refuse to use them. If the first few stalls are not free, I head to another restroom.

This is a serious question that I would like many people’s input on. What are your theories on which stalls are the cleanest? If you had to choose between the first and last stall, which would it be? Leave your comments in the comment box below!
