Tips on Customizing Your Car Interior

Many people focus on the outside of a car, but what you see everyday is the interior of your car. This is the area that you spend the most time in while driving or riding in the car. There are many ways to add your own personal touch to this space.

First, you must like the seats in your car. You will spend hours in these seats and you want them to be comfortable and appealing. You can have covers made to slide over your seats or possibly find some pre-made seat covers. They can come in leather, neoprene, cloth and suede. There are literally thousands of colors and patterns available to coordinate with your vehicle. The great thing about seat covers is that you can change them out easily whenever you want to. If you don’t like the idea of having a seat cover, you can have your seat professionally re-upholstered in leather, cloth or other materials. You can even order the material already pre-sewn to fit your seats. You can order them in multiple colors and patterns and then bring them to an auto upholsterer to install. This process involves removing the old material completely down to the bare foam of the seat. Then the new skin of the seat is put on, making it look like an original.

Another thing that can make a huge difference in the appearance of your car’s interior is the carpet. If your car has a dingy carpet, a brand new one will make the entire car seem new. If you don’t like the original color of the carpet you can order a custom color made specifically for your car’s model. These carpets can be found in almost every shade including neon colors.

If you really want to put your stamp on the interior of your car, you can bring paint inside. You can color coordinate key pieces from the dash, doors and console. If you really want to go a step further you can even customize the shape of your dash and console. Any professional audio shop should be able to build a custom console out of fiberglass. You can fiberglass the dash and door panels also. After changing the shape of these parts you can have them painted to match the outside of your car or paint a custom scene on the inside for you to enjoy while driving.

A place that is often overlooked on the interior of a vehicle is the headliner. You can have the headliner replaced with material to match your seats. If you want to go a little wild you can have almost any light weight material applied to the headliner and the best thing is, most people won’t notice if it does not match the rest of your car because it is hard to be seen from the outside of the vehicle.

There are many ways to customize the interior of your car. Use your imagination to make this space your very own showcase of art.
