Three Great Diabetic Dessert Cookbooks

Diabetic Desserts, Sugar Free Recipes

One of the biggest issues for diabetics is finding diabetic friendly dessert options. Luckily, there are several great cookbooks on the market that offer diabetic friendly dessert recipes. If you are a diabetic or you are cooking for someone who is a diabetic you should check out one of these three great diabetic friendly dessert cookbooks.

The Big Book of Diabetic Desserts: Decadent and Delicious Recipes Perfect for People with Diabetes

Written by Jackie Mills, the former food editor of Redbook Magazine and former associate food editor of Southern Living Magazine, The Big Book of Diabetic Desserts: Decadent and Delicious Recipes Perfect for People with Diabetes is the first dessert cookbook ever published by the American Diabetes Association.

The Big Book of Diabetic Desserts: Decadent and Delicious Recipes Perfect for People with Diabetes features recipes for just about every type of dessert you can think of with over one hundred and fifty recipes for desserts such as pies, tarts, cookies, cakes, custards, cheesecakes, and mousses.

When possible The Big Book of Diabetic Desserts: Decadent and Delicious Recipes Perfect for People with Diabetes uses fruit as a sweetener and uses whole grains instead of processed grains, which helps control how much sugar your body takes in.

Sugar-free, Gluten-free Baking and Desserts: Recipes for Healthy and Delicious Cookies, Cakes, Muffins, Sconces, Pies, Puddings, Breads and Pizzas

Written by Kelly Keough, host of the TV show “The Sweet Truth” and an expert healty chef, the title of the cookbook Sugar-free, Gluten-free Baking and Desserts: Recipes for Healthy and Delicious Cookies, Cakes, Muffins, Sconces, Pies, Puddings, Breads and Pizzas is quite a mouthful but is a great cookbook for diabetic friendly desserts, especially if gluten is also a concern.

The beginning of this cookbook features a section on how to convert your own recipes into gluten and sugar free recipes using simple substitutions, which is a huge lifesaver for some.

One of the absolute best recipes in the entire Sugar-free, Gluten-free Baking and Desserts: Recipes for Healthy and Delicious Cookies, Cakes, Muffins, Sconces, Pies, Puddings, Breads and Pizzas cookbook is The Peanut Butter cups which are absolutely to die for.

The only downside of Sugar-free, Gluten-free Baking and Desserts: Recipes for Healthy and Delicious Cookies, Cakes, Muffins, Sconces, Pies, Puddings, Breads and Pizzas is the fact that some ingredients may be hard to find, if you live in a big city with plenty of organic or whole foods stores to choose from this may not be a problem but if you live in the country you may have a hard time finding certain ingredients or may have to order them online.

Diabetic Dream Desserts

The copy of Diabetic Dream Desserts that I am referring to is the version that was printed in 2004 and is a revised edition of the previous Diabetic Dream Desserts with both versions being written by registered dietician Sandra Woodruff.

Diabetic Dream Desserts features a wide variety of desserts such as cakes, cookies, pies, strudels, brownies, and frozen desserts.

The only downside to Diabetic Dream Desserts is the fact that there are no pictures of the recipes, something I really prefer in cookbooks.
