Season 8 of “Deadliest Catch” will begin airing in a couple months. Here are three fan wishes for the Cornelia Marie during the upcoming season.
Josh Harris Takes Over As Captain
Jake Harris is the oldest son of former Cornelia Marie Captain Phil Harris, who died a couple years ago from complications of a stroke. Since the death of Phil, the Cornelia Marie has gone through three different captains while Josh and his younger brother Jake learned everything about the boat. The last captain was Tony Lara. Although he was really nice, it is time for Josh to take over as captain. Josh is responsible and very reliable when it comes to crab fishing and doing what is right for the boat and the crew, which is why this should be his time to shine. I really want Josh to take over as captain of the Cornelia Marie because it would have made Phil proud, and this is something he has been striving to do all of his life.
Jake Harris Becomes More Reliable
Jake Harris, on the other hand, has always been the younger and more irresponsible crew member on “Deadliest Catch,” and a lot of that has to do with drug issues. Jake has had his problems with drugs in the past, but he should not let that define the person he is or the person he wants to become. I have come to really root for Jake on the Cornelia Marie because I have seen a lot of close friends of mine fall down that same path with drugs. Jake needs to prove to everyone, including his brother and himself, that he is not going to let drugs run his life and that he wants to become a successful crab fisherman. I hope for the sake of the Cornelia Marie and for Josh that he can find out how to become reliable, honest and dependable, because his family and crew members need him.
Cornelia Marie Tops the Crab Count
The Cornelia Marie has not had a good past couple of seasons on “Deadliest Catch,” and has been at the bottom of the crab count for a while. I hope that the boat is able to beat everyone else in the crab count and comes out ahead of all the rest at the end of the crab season. I would love to see the Cornelia Marie take home the most money per deckhand, and really think this would go a long way toward building the morale of the crew in general. With the passing of Phil and then the low crab numbers in the previous season, it seems that the crew of the Cornelia Marie is at a crucial point where they can either succeed or throw in the towel forever. If the Cornelia Marie can win the crab count and make the most money at the end of the upcoming season, then it will show everyone that Jake and Josh know what they are doing. I hope that the Cornelia Marie will have great fortunes because after the past couple seasons, it seems their time on “Deadliest Catch” might be over.
