The Top Ten Villains of Ghost Rider

Ghost Rider

The image of the Ghost Rider is iconic. The flaming motorcycle, the flaming skull, the chains, the leather, the penance stare. With a look as awesome as that and powers to match, the Ghost Rider needs villains equally cool and terrifying. Let’s go over these characters. Here’s my personal top ten rundown of Ghost Rider’s Rogues Gallery.

10. Sin-eater
Stanley Carter was a SHIELD agent who underwent experimental performance enhancing drugs. When the drugs
proved harmful to the user, the program was discontinued and Stanley quit SHIELD to become a New York City detective. When his parters were repeatedly killed, he became consumed with bringing them to justice no matter the cost and became the Sin Eater.

9. Lilith
An immortal demon seeking vengeance for the death of her children by the two Ghost Riders, Lilith is a fearsome foe indeed. In addition to have superhuman strength and durability, she has considerable magical power and the ability to summon demons.

8. Centurious
A tribesman from prehistoric times, Centurious sold his soul to combat Mephisto to save the woman he loved. In the process, he became Centurious. An immortal and an adept at magical arts, Centurious possesses considerable power over the elements and various other magical powers.

7. Blackout
Crime lord and assassin Blackout has fought Ghost Rider for a considerable amount of time, and has met him on nearly even ground every time. Besides being a competent fighter in his own right, he has demonic superhuman powers that can equal Ghost Rider’s own.

6. Nightmare
The lord of the ”dream dimension” is a strange one indeed. Like his namesake, he feeds off the nightmares of human beings and thrives off their pain. In the ”dream dimension”, he’s nearly omnipotent and serves as one of the most deadly foes for Ghost Rider.

5. The Orb
Johnny Blaze’s stunt motorcycle rival Drake Shannon had a falling out with Johnny. After a horrible accident, he became disfigured and had a bone to pick with Mr. Blaze. He possesses no superhuman powers, but is an extremely skilled fighter.

4. Scarecrow
Ebenezer Laughton grew up in an abusive, broken home and eventually became a part of the circus. Eventually though he turned to a life of crime and used his talents for evil. An able fight who’s double jointed, Scarecrow was given new powers via surgical implants. He can release pheromones which heighten the fear in his targets.

3. Zarathos
Zarathos is a demon who’s nearly Mephisto’s equal, and as such has provided an immense challenge for the titular hero. Ghost Rider’s power is directly linked to the amount of souls he consumes, and the correct amount can make him omnipotent.

2. Vengeance
Vengeance is basically another Ghost Rider has similar powers. He had a run in with Ghost Rider but only fought him because he believed Ghost Rider was Zarathos. After finding out the truth, he actually became a superhero.

1. Blackheart
Created by Mephisto and considered his son. His lone goal is to take over Hell and defeat his father, whom he hates. His powers are nearly limitless, and he even actually took over Hell for awhile before losing it back to Mephisto. As for Ghost Rider, these two eternal enemies have tangled many times. Perhaps the most evil thing Blackheart has done was turn Johnny Blaze’s lover Roxanne Simpson into a demon after her death.
