The Omaha Metro Area’s Best Local Waterparks

It has been a hot summer in Omaha this year. The kids are out of school for the summer and when it’s too hot to play outside in the backyard that means it’s time to head to the water park. There are several great local waterparks in the Omaha Metro area that offer good recreation for the whole family.

Mahoney Family Aquatic Center

Located in Mahoney State Park at 28500 W Park Highway Ashland, NE, Mahoney Family Aquatic Center offers a place to cool off to non-swimmers and swimmers alike. Admission is $8 for adults and $7 for children ages 3 to 12.

For the little tikes Mahoney offers a water playground in a zero depth area with slides and fountains. For the older kids there are two 200 foot-plus curling water slides, a lap pool, and a wave pool. There are tubes available for rent for $3 that a used for riding the waves in the wave pool.

Fun Plex

Fun Plex is located at 7003 Q St Omaha, NE. Along with other attractions it offers the “Wet & Wild Water Park”. An all day admission wristband to the waterpark is $14.95 for people 46 inches or taller and $9.95 for those under 46 inches and Senior citizens. For admission after 5 pm it is $9.95 for people over 46 inches and $6.95 for those under 46 inches.

Children 10 and under can enjoy the kiddie pool with a depth of up to 1 foot. Fun Plex also has a 5 story waterslide and wave pool, “Motion Ocean”, which it claims has the biggest waves in Nebraska. There is also the “Lazzzy River” where you can relax in a tube and float down their winding river.

Papio Bay Aquatic Center

The third waterpark is in a suburb of Omaha, Papillion, at 815 E Halleck St. Papillion, NE. Papio Bay offers discounted season passes and resident passes. The daily passes are $5.50 for those 17 to 54, $4.50 for children 3-16 and Senior citizens, and infants 2 and under can get in free. Papio Bay Aquatic center is large and offers two water slides, wading pools and play areas. There is also a sand volleyball court and concession area.

Pirate Cove Water Park

Nearby to Omaha is the city of Council Bluffs, Iowa, where the Pirate Cove Water Park is located at 915 N 21st St. Like some of the other waterparks, Pirate Cove has a zero depth area and play areas for young kids, like the pirate ship. The pool is z-shaped and has 2 waterslides.

It is $5.00 to get in for recreation swimming and $4.00 without water slides. On family nights admission is only $2.00. The park also offers a season pass for one adult or child at $60.00 and for up to 5 immediate family members at $185.00. There are also planned swimming lesson sessions that you can enroll you little ones in.

Co Co Key Water Resort

If you want to enjoy the water indoors head over to Co Co Key at 3321 S 72nd St in Omaha, Nebraska. The whole family will enjoy Co Co Key Water Resort with their three 40 foot water slides, jacuzzis, water basketball activity pool, and tanning deck.

The price for admission to Co Co Key Water Resort are $10 or $5 for swimmers under 48″ and their chaperones. On Saturdays, Sundays, and Holidays it is $20 or $10 for swimmers under 48″ and their chaperones.
