Brady Bunch, The Brady Bunch

COMMENTARY | It has been years since “The Brady Bunch” was canceled but America still has a love for the cast. “The Brady Bunch” evokes fun times for those of us who got to watch the program. From the beginning when it first aired in 1969 until it was canceled in 1974, it positively depicted a blended family that was also enjoyable to watch. This is why many of us who have heard the news that Barry Williams who played Greg Brady is a dad again are interested in the details to the newest addition to his real life family.

Although there have been some bumps in their relationship, Williams welcomed a daughter with his girlfriend Elizabeth Kennedy. They have named the newborn Samantha Rose and this is the second child for Williams. Williams has a 9-year-old son with his ex-wife Eila Mary Matt.

Even though Williams is 57 years old it can often make a fan of “The Brady Bunch” caught off guard when we see them being a normal part of society getting on with their lives as they age and have children of their own. Often times we still have a mental picture that there is no way their favorite sitcom star could ever change. It’s like we freeze them in time. Maybe when we do that it allows us to stay young as well. As actors we watched on television get older and age that means we have aged as well. How many times have we looked at someone in shock when we see him or her now because they have changed over the years? It reminds us how much time has passed. I guess this is why when someone like Williams becomes a father; we want to know all of the details.
