The Best Youth Football Camps

Youth Football

Ever want to send your kid to a youth football camp? Or maybe you are a coach with some promising players, you would like to attend. I have compiled a list of some football camps and what they offer.

If you are not really sure what a football camp is, let me try to explain. It’s like a summer camp, ran by NFL or College coaches and or players. They instruct different age groups in football skills. Most are kind of expensive but I think they pay off the investment. If you have a promising football player in or close to high school, it can help them get into college. They will learn needed skills and get close instruction by very talented coaches and players.

Alex Brown’s camp

Alex Brown of the NFC champion Chicago Bears has a camp at Lewis University in Romeoville IL. This is a one week father/son or coach/player camp. It costs $739 for overnight campers or $629 for no overnight members. They can break that into 4 payments and require a deposit. The overnight campers get 3 meals a day, Staff shirts for dad or coach and a photo with the headline player of the camp, and a free football. There is a group discount offer. They do not guarantee that Alex Smith will be there but they do say some Chicago Bears will be there. They offer daily instruction and demonstrations of the fundamentals of football, 7 hours of on field practice a day. This is a chance to be seen by college coaches up close and personal since the majority of the staff are college coaches. Players 15-18 can make the top 30 list. This is a list sent to 1,500 colleges, with detailed info on these top 30 players.

Brad Hoover Camp

Carolina Panther Brad Hoover’s Youth Football Camp, in Charlotte North Carolina. Another father/son or coach/player camp. The dad or coach gets the same things that are given in the above Alex Brown Camp. They do guarantee that SOME Carolina Panthers will be there. The price here is $709 for overnight campers and $599 for commuter campers. This is not an autograph camp, they offer on field instruction.

Offense- Defense Football Camps

Various locations (see site for details) these are full contact camps. They believe that full contact is the only way to learn the game of football. They have NFL and college coaches and players on their staff, as well as trainers and counselors. In the first practice they access the child’s skill level and place him with players in a similar size, age and skill group. They offer morning offensive instruction, Defense in the afternoon and scrimmage in the evening. The company is in its 39th year of operating full contact football camps.

Linemeninc Camps

3 day camps for linemen only, in Stockton CA, 6-30-07 to 7-02-07 and Long Beach CA, 6-22 to 6-24-07. They offer 3 days of intense skills training for the lineman in the family. Offensive linemen learn Stance Starts, Drive and Reach Blocks, Trapping and pulling and other techniques. Defensive linemen learn Stance Starts, Reads, Gap Control and much more.
