The Best Chicago, Illinois Seafood Restaurants

Best Seafood Restaurants, Seafood Restaurants

Chicago isn’t seen as much of a seafood place, but that doesn’t mean there aren’t any seafood restaurants worth visiting. Chicago actually has some seafood restaurants that can compete with those on the coast.

Joe’s Seafood, Prime Steak & Stone Crab
60 E Grand Ave
Chicago, IL 60611

Joe’s is one of Chicago’s best Seafood restaurants, known for their excellent seafood, that is always prepared perfectly. Whether you order the Stone crabs, Shrimp, Scallops, fresh fish or crab legs, be prepared to be satisfied. The portions are huge and it is more than likely you will get to enjoy a meal twice. Make sure that you save room for the Key lime pie, it is delicious and tops off any meal perfectly.

It is located on the Near North Side between Rush St & Wabash Ave. Although you would not know it by the name, Joe’s is pretty upscale. Be prepared to dress up and pay high prices. It can cost up to $100 per person, but the price is totally worth it. Reservations are not necessary, but recommended if you do not want a long wait. Another great thing about Joe’s is the valet parking.

Frank’s Chicago Shrimp House II
5439 W Addison St
Chicago, IL 60641

Frank’s is located in Portage Park between Linder Ave and Long Ave in Polska town. It is stashed between some homes, but don’t let the odd location detour you. Frank’s is the true meaning of diamond in the rough. It is one of Chicago’s best seafood restaurants because of the food, not the location.

The menu is small, which is not a bad thing. The food that they do serve is fantastic. The shrimp and scallops are delicious as they’re big, tender and seasoned just right. The hush puppies are perfect and go great with all of the seafood dishes they offer. They are family friendly, and very inexpensive–about the same price as many fast food joints.

Calumet Fisheries
3259 E 95th St
Chicago, IL 60617

Out in the middle of nowhere, in South Deering, (one of Chicago’s many neighborhoods) is a hole in the wall Chicago Seafood restaurant by the name of Calumet Fisheries. It may look a little questionable, but it is fantastic.

Calumet Fisheries is a little different than the other seafood restaurants mentioned because it is a smokehouse. They don’t use any artificial smoking techniques, they actually have a natural wood smokehouse. You name it, they smoke it. Smoked shrimp, smoked frog legs, smoked salmon. Anyone who loves smoked food will love this place.

When you walk in, your mouth waters. It is a very laid back, and has an old time fisherman feel about it. It is pretty small, so it is not good for families groups. The prices are reasonable, but you still may want to get some coupons which you can find on their website

Chicago is a big city, with many restaurants. If you are in the mood for seafood, you cannot go wrong with the one’s mentioned. They are all completely different, not only in price, but taste and atmosphere.
