Ten Hot Movies for 2010

If you’re a fan of big Hollywood blockbusters from some of the most well known actors and directors in the business, 2010 doesn’t look like it will let you down. There are a host of films waiting in the wings. Some of them are special effects filled spectacles while others are decidedly less so. But no matter your tastes, you’re sure to find something you like.

Iron Man 2

The first Iron man netted a bajillion kajillion dollars and launched a meta- covered Robert Downey Junior into the sky as genius inventor Tony Stark. Iron Man 2 looks to do more of the same, and could be one of the most anticipated films of the summer. This one is set for May release.

The A-Team

Hannibal, Murdoch, and B.A. Baracus come from the small screen to the big screen in this Hollywood adaptation of the popular 1980’s TV show. I’m wondering if they’ll have the same van. Look for it in July.

The Twilight Sage: Eclipse

Also in July is the angst-ridden, pale, oh-so-dreamy love triangle with vampires and werewolves that has everyone in the country divided into two camps. No, not Edward or Jacob, but whether or not to see this one or go do anything else.

The Wolfman

Speaking of werewolves, Benecio Del Toro stars in this February release that looks to have a little different take on the creature than the teen vampire movies. Along with Anthony Hopkins and Emily Blunt, this one could feature decidedly more moonlight. And blood.

Robin Hood

Director Ridley Scott pairs up with Russell Crowe once more to bring us the story of that man in tights with his band of merry men with longbows. Well, maybe not quite. After all, these guys made ‘Gladiator’. And even though it had guys in skirts and togas, it was pretty darn good. Coming in May.

Wall Street 2: Money Never Stops

If the original ‘Wall Street’ was emblematic of the ’80s, we’re wondering what director Oliver Stone can do with a movie set during the recent financial crisis. Will Michael Douglas take Shia LaBeouf under his wing and, uh…transform him? (Hate myself for that one. Really do.) See it in April.

Tron Legacy

The first ‘Tron’ was about a guy who entered a computer and fought computer programs. We think that story has been done a few times since then. But it has those neat-o motorcycles, so who cares? Set for a December release.

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1

The final ‘Harry Potter’ book has been broken up into two films, and this one comes out in November. Get ready for lots of wands, spells, and a magic, talking something or other.

Avatar Sequel

The rampant success of James Cameron’s ‘Avatar’ is apparently set to be released in 2010. Sounds a little early, but who cares. As long as we get a chance to go back to Pandora, we’ll take it. No release date set.

Toy Story 3

Buzz Lightyear, Woody and the gang are back in 2010. The first two films of the franchise seemed to do well. And Pixar seems to be pretty good at making movies that have actual stories and characters we can care about. Oh, and kids like it. Bonus. Coming in July.
