Talking with Thomas John-The Psychic Medium & Clairvoyant of the Facebook/Twitter Generation!

Truth be told, I have always been a Metaphysical junkie. I find this world fascinating, wondrous and baffling. I was on a recent trip to Manhattan and a friend took me to see the Psychic Medium and Clairvoyant Thomas John, who was hosting “A Night with Spirit; Messages from the Other Side,” at the Meta Center. I was, to put it mildly, truly impressed by him. Thomas is an internationally regarded Psychic, (as well as an Author and a Life Coach,) who’s clients include the gamut of Wall Street, professionals, celebrities and tons of us normal folk. He was so accurate and detailed and, even though at times I am an ever-questioning skeptic, I left there absolutely convinced that there was indeed life on the ‘Other Side.’

I got in touch with Thomas to chat with him further.

LS-Thomas, first of all, I’ve been to many of these talks/seminars and you truly blew my mind. You’re only 28? How is that you’re so young to be doing what you are? You are this old soul, yet you are really the Facebook/Twitter generation. I find the dichotomy so intriguing.

TJ-Spiritual work can really begin at any age and any time. Kids are sometimes the most psychic, because they don’t have the crazy lives adults have. They’re more in tune and less blocked up. There’s no age limit. I think my generation can hugely benefit from embracing this type of thinking/belief. We live in such a fast and instant society. Having the spiritual/psychic connection slows us down. But if you have a gift, or that connection, you have it. Doesn’t matter how old or young.

LS-Do you think everyone is hard wired to have that connection?

TJ: To an extent, yes. Its very much part of our biology. How many times have you said, “I knew I shouldn’t have done that!” So yes, we can all use intuition and psychic abilities to improve and enhance our lives, and with a lot of effort, practice and dedication, many of us can probably help others too. It’s probably a lot like running marathons, not everyone can do it, but I bet more people can than you think.

LS-You literally didn’t make a mistake at the seminar. You got names, how the people that died were like when they were here in the physical life on earth, all of it. You brought so much peace to so many in the audience.

TJ- Spirit does not make mistakes and that’s what I channel. Now, there might be something that someone doesn’t understand, or something that someone doesn’t get right away, or something I misinterpret, but there aren’t mistakes. Also, I feel that it’s important to bring convincing evidence of life after death. I encourage skepticism and as such I need to respond to that. I meditate in the morning and I ask specifically for accuracy in my readings. I don’t want to give a reading and say, “Your father is here, and he misses you, he was a nice man.” I want to say, “Your father is here. He said last night before bed, you said a prayer to him, and he died of a heart attack, and he says you still have his Mets cap in the third drawer down in your desk.” To me, that’s convincing evidence.

LS-What is your background like? When did you know you had this incredible/unique gift? How was it growing up for you?

TJ-As a young boy, I remember just having lots of imaginary friends. I thought everyone was like this. I had very psychic dreams. When I was seven, I told my Mom I didn’t want to go to school today because the bus was going to crash. She said I was crazy and made me go, and a mile from the house the driver slammed into another bus. I told my parents all about my grandfather Leo who had died years before I was born. We never talked about him; my parents freaked out and thought I was crazy. They took me to priests, shrinks, dentists, doctors, anyone they thought could help. I was scared of being so obviously different. I ran away from it for about 12 years. I went to college, graduated, and began pursuing a career in research; I wanted to be a doctor. Right before I was supposed to begin medical school, weird stuff started to happen again. I started having very vivid dreams where I would see what was going to happen the next day to me, and it would all happen. My psychic stuff just jump started. I couldn’t turn it off or turn it down. I thought I was losing my mind. Finally, I decided I couldn’t live a lie. I needed to just be who I was. So my parents and I talked, it was important that I get everything out in the open to them. I’ll never forget that conversation. I talked for about an hour straight not even letting them say anything and when I finished there was a long pause, about three minutes and my Father said, “Fine, but you’re out of the Super Bowl pool.”LS-You seem so compassionate for someone your age. The way you handled people who were so vulnerable, you dealt with them in such a lovely and compassionate manner. How do you manage to stay so grounded and humble about it all?

TJ-I always tell people, I’m just the telephone wire. I don’t have all the answers. The kind of work I am doing has a huge responsibility to it. It’s not a joke. I can’t have an off day. I love my work, but it’s so serious. I am well aware that it’s not me anyone should thank or think is amazing, it’s the metaphysical properties of Earth. To me, the things to be amazed at are the intricacies of our lives. How nature happens, the moon, galaxies, the list is endless. God made a world where there is a survival of consciousness. I’m merely the wire connecting the “real” world and the “Spirit” world.

LS-Explain to me your knowledge of what “the other side” is. What does happen when we die? It seems that even if you do believe in life after death, you still have nagging doubts. You don’t seem to have any.

TJ- I’ve been told a lot of the same things over and over, after doing thousands of readings. It seems clear that we definitely see people that we know again, family and loved ones. We also help our loved ones that are still on Earth. My grandmother always said, “Heaven is just seven feet above you.” I know that to be true, our loved ones aren’t that far away. It’s a bigger, larger, faster and more colorful dimension. But they are with us and continue to guide us. It’s just a different conversation. We have to embrace that difference. A client wanted me to speak to her dead son. But she didn’t like the experience because it was too much of a tease. And to an extent, that’s true, it’s not like having a conversation or holding hands or making love or going to the park together. Nobody, no medium, priest, doctor or anyone can give you back that connection. That’s why we have to always treasure the time we get down here.

LS-People are frightened about all of this. The fear of death is omnipresent with practically everybody. What do you feel about death?

TJ-Death doesn’t have to be a sad thing. If people really saw it as a transition, not an end, that would be very empowering. People are really scared of death because it’s the emotion that we connect with it in pop culture and in the media in general. Death is the one human experience that can evoke every single emotion, it’s so complex. Do I want to die? No of course not! But, it’s not something I am scared about. Not really.

LS-You have a yet untitled book coming out in mid-2013. What is that about?

TJ-, It’s about the many beautiful people that I meet on my journey as a Psychic Medium living in New York City. The different Spirits, the different readings. There’s even a ghost story in it. It’s not a theory book; it’s a book about my work in the purest sense. The book will be for every one of all ages and beliefs. You don’t even need to believe in the other side to read it.

LS-Because of your young age, I know you want to get the word out to your contemporaries also. Young people don’t seem to have a grasp on how fragile life really can be, do they?

TJ-I think my generation has grown up fairly cynical. With Twitter and Facebook, it’s easy to forget about how important true connections really are. We take so much for granted now. People of every generation sometimes miss how fragile life can be. It’s something we need to be constantly mindful of. I think the most important thing we can do to keep the value of life in the forefront of our mind is just to remember how crucial love is in every aspect. Love really has huge implications in our lives, and I think that is sometimes what is taken for granted.

LS-Finally Thomas, what do you really know about what happens after we die? As Oprah says, “what do you know for sure?”

TJ-I know that love continues. I know that our loved ones want to communicate that to us and that love has no boundaries. I will read someone and say, “Your grandmother is here, and she’s telling me that she loves your new hair cut.” They’ll say, “But she died fifty years ago!” It doesn’t matter though, they’ll continue to show up and pass along messages. I realize it’s such a privilege and an honor to connect to those two sides together.
