School is out for for the summer. Vacations are being planned. The state of Ohio is jam packed with festivals celebrating the summer months. This article provides brief descriptions of several summer festivals in Ohio in 2012.
Gold Wings and Ribs Festival
This is a genuine call for motorcycle enthusiasts. The Gold Wing and Ribs Festival is in Pomeroy, Ohio. Pomeroy is located in southeastern Ohio. This is a beautiful scenic area that offers motorcycle riders many challenging roads to ride. During the festival there will be a parade, great food and fun activities to enjoy in southeastern Ohio’s Pomeroy. The Gold Wing and Rib Festival is the first weekend in June.
Ohio Bike Week
The Ohio Bike Week in Sandusky, Ohio is a biker’s dream come true. The Ohio Bike Week Festival begins June 1st and lasts until June tenth. Sandusky, Ohio is located near Lake Erie in northern Ohio. During this week long festival, bikers enjoy great fellowship, music and food and beverages. It is a great time to tour the Lake Erie shoreline and northern Ohio.
Washboard Music Festival
On June 14th through June 16th, the city of Logan, Ohio offers a great opportunity for music lovers to travel back in time. This festival in Logan, Ohio features the musical instrument the washboard. The Washboard Music Festival is a great opportunity to enjoy Bluegrass music and the Appalachian culture. Logan, Ohio sets in the Hocking Hills area of southeastern Ohio.
Banana Split Festival
What better way to dip into summer fun then to attend the Banana Split Festival in Wilmington, Ohio. This is the 18th summer Wilmington has hosted this cool festival. The Banana Split Festival is June 8th and 9th at the J.W. Denver Park in Wilmington, Ohio.
Avon Heritage Duct Tape Festival
On June 15th and 17th Avon, Ohio will be celebrating the fact it is the “Duct Tape Capitol of the World” according to www.cleveland.com/ohiofestivals this summer. This festival features crafts and artwork using duct tape. The Avon Heritage Duct Tape Festival will be held at the Veterans Memorial Park in Avon, Ohio.
Cleveland Irish Cultural Festival
Celebrate being Irish on July 20th through July 22nd at the Cuyahoga County Fairgrounds in Berea, Ohio. This festival brings the Irish Heritage close to Cleveland, Ohio. Everybody at the Cuyahoga County Fairgrounds can enjoy Irish foods, drinks and music in Berea, Ohio on July 20th through July 22nd.
Jamboree In The Hills
The infamous country music extravaganza Jamboree In The Hills will once again be held in Belmont, Ohio July 19th through July 22nd. This outdoor music festival is once again expected to thrill and entertain both the young and old country music lovers. The 2012 Jamboree in the Hills will be featuring many great bands that include Charlie Daniels, Rascal Flats, Jason Aldean and Tracy Lawrence according to www.cleveland.com.
There are many great festivals going on in Ohio during the 2012 summer months. The annual Pro Football Hall of Fame Festival and Twins Day Festival both occur early in August.
