Summer Finale of the Secret Life of the American Teenager

These days we are being swamped by reality shows. I’ve decided to try to ignore the majority of them and focus on one of the drama shows on television that I’ve been following: The Secret Life of the American Teenager. Have you ever noticed this show hardly has a normal finale? That it always ends about half-way through the actual season? This would make since for why this finale episode was titled “Half-Over.”

I used to really like the show. Brenda Hampton, the producer of Seventh Heaven, has in since, attempted to continue her work of teenage life. And of course, she loves drama. I admit that show started out strong, but has recently started to wane and disappoint some fans. Remember not too far back when Ben and Adrian’s baby was stillborn? And of course, before that, Ben and Amy broke up? And Ben is now always getting in trouble? Why him?

And now, some of the newest kickers.

We had finally adjusted to Ricky and Amy being together. Once again, this episode focuses a little bit on their fake wedding. I personally believe that because of the eye action going on between Ricky and Clementine in this episode that either one of two things will happen: Ricky will cheat or Amy and him will separate. I personally hope that Amy gets back together with Ben. One thing I was grateful for in this episode was Dylan left. I couldn’t stand her! And I’m sure that other fans will back me up on this.

At this point, we would have thought we would know for sure about Ricky and Amy getting married. We’re still wrong. To top it off, after such a long and agonizing wait for Grace and Jack to get back together, something terrible happens. The ending was a mix of confusion, sadness, and a possible hunger for wanting more. It’s hard to tell, but most of the show’s fans would agree that Jack died from his injuries at the very end of the show. Although, knowing the producers, there is a chance that Jack may have survived and just has possibly slipped into a coma. Then again, the show loves throwing curve balls at us.

So, what do you think, Secret Life fans? Do you hope Jack made it? Or do you think he didn’t? Is this a way for the show to start winding down after five long seasons? I hope when the show returns that Ben and Amy will get back together and get married. Ricky should be with Clementine, and Henry and Alice should get back together. With all the crazy love triangles going on, you can get a little confused! And here is some extra food for thought: Will they catch the pimp that hurt Jack or will something else very serious happen to the cast? You have to consider that Ben’s dad is now fostering one of the pimp’s former employees and that Betty knows the pimp. Only time will tell what will happen when the rest of Season 5 returns.
