This excellent variety of tomato sauce features a pretty smooth consistency that lends itself well to any dish it is added to.
On more than one occasion recently, when I was pressed for time, I made pasta sauce for small amounts of pasta using only Stop & Shop Tomato Sauce and some spices and the consistency was just fine.

Taste / Flavor
Before I recently tried Stop & Shop Tomato Sauce for the first time, I thought that most plain canned tomato sauces tasted basically the same. As soon as I tasted the Stop & Shop sauce, however, that opinion changed.
The first thing I noticed about this sauce is that it tastes much better than any other brand of tomato sauce I have tried. It offers that hard-to-define Italian restaurant style tomato sauce flavor that I’ve never found in a can of plain tomato sauce.
This tomato sauce contains tomato paste, salt, onion powder, dried bell pepper and garlic powder. It must be the amounts of the various ingredients in this sauce that give it its incredibly tasty flavor.
On a flavor scale of one through ten, I would assign this product a rating of 9.75.
Packaging
Stop & Shop Tomato Sauce is packaged in a large, standard type metal can that requires the use of a can opener to open. The largely white and green front label features an illustration of two tomatoes and a bowlful of the sauce and the rear label lists all pertinent ingredient and nutritional information.
Overall Rating
Canned tomato sauce is a great product to keep on hand in one’s pantry. In this reviewer’s humble opinion, Stop & Shop Tomato Sauce is a delicious, reasonably priced variety of tomato sauce that can’t be beat. This product is highly recommended.
