Stonyfield Farm O’ Soy Yogurt: Review

Ground Flaxseed, Intestinal Flora, Stonyfield, Stonyfield Farm

As a person who doesn’t tolerate dairy very well, I’ve learned to turn to many plant based alternatives to satisfy my dietary wants and needs. One food I have realized is absolutely necessary to find a quality replacement for is yogurt. Yogurt, with its live, active cultures of bacteria, can be a very healthy food to make as a staple in one’s diet. Eating yogurt on a regular basis can rejuvenate the health of your intestinal flora, consequently strengthening your digestion and possibly improving conditions like irritable bowel syndrome, constipation, candida, thrush and more. So I was excited to come across a variety of soy yogurts from various companies and in a myriad of interesting flavors. Probably my favorite kind that I have discovered, which I am going to review here, is Stonyfield Farm’s O’Soy yogurt.

I purchased this particular yogurt in a six-pack of individual, 100 calorie cups. The flavors included were strawberry and peach.

Now, If you are mainly accustomed to dairy yogurts, you will taste a noticeable different. This yogurt does have a mild soy taste, however I find it pleasant and not at all overwhelming. The strawberry flavor is quite delicious and simple: a perfect combination of creamy mixed with that wonderful ripe summer strawberry flavor. The peach is also quite good, although, in my opinion, not as deep in flavor. The texture is quite creamy and thick compared to some other soy yogurts which tend to be more runny. And, while these flavors are pleasantly sweet, there is not an excessive, sickening amount of sugar unlike some other brands.

I found the portions in the cups to be decent and, mixed with healthy additions like ground flaxseed, berries and/or nuts, a tasty, easy to digest, healthy breakfast or snack. You could also use it as a dip for cut up fruit or mixed with granola.

So, if you have trouble with dairy and are looking for a tasty alternative yogurt you can feel good about, I’d strongly reccomend trying Stonyfield Farm’s O’Soy yogurt. It has a simple, pure, delicious taste and will leave you feeling like you just did something very good for your body. This is probably one of the more easy to locate soy yogurts and can be found at many major grocery stores, including many Wal Marts. You may also be able to track this down at your local health food store. Enjoy!
