Get a Summer Job: Working for the Wildwood Boardwalk in New Jersey

If you are looking for a fun and exciting place to work this summer you have to consider working for Morey’s Pier on the Wildwood Boardwalk. You don’t have to be from Wildwood to get a summer job with Morey’s. Morey’s Piers hires 1500 seasonal employees per year. Out of those 1500, 700 – 800 of those employees are international students on visa programs.

You can expect to earn $7.15 per hour. There is no overtime pay, just the flat $7.15 per hour. If you work through Labor Day weekend you will qualify for a bonus. This bonus will equal $1.00 for each hour you worked in the month of August.

Here are some positions that are currently available:
1. Cash Room Supervisor-For this job you need to have some experience in general supervision and be proficient in Microsoft Excel. You should be able to understand banking and you will be responsible for overseeing cash room staff and managing cash room operations.

2. Lifeguard– You do not have to be already licensed to get this job. Morey’s Pier will train and certify you to work at one of their two water parks (Raging Waters and Ocean Oasis). You must be good with people and be comfortable standing on your feet for up to 8 hours per day. You must also keep in mind that you will be required to remain outside for that time period as well.

3. Admissions/Guest Services-If you want this job you must be a people person. You will be responsible to help guests solve their problems. You should know that you will be working mostly outside and on your feet. You will be in charge of handling tickets, season passes, helping guests, and keeping track of lost and found items.

4. Food and Beverage Services-Once again you must be a good people person to get this job. You will need to be able to stand for long hours and possible work outside. If you work in one of Morey’s restaurants you will need to work well with others. This goes for both cooks and servers.

5. Games Operator-You must be good with people and children. You will need to stand for hours and work outdoors. Some of the games you could be running would include: spinning wheels, basketball shots, and water pistol races.

6. Park Services-You must be good with people and be able to stand and walk for hours at a time. You will be responsible for keeping Morey’s Pier clean and free of litter.

7. Parking Lot Attendant– You must be able to work outdoors and interact well with people. You will collect the parking fees for each vehicle.

8. EMT-You must have an EMT certification to apply for this job. You will be responsible for all employees and guests for Morey’s Pier including the Water parks.

9. Ride Operator-Morey’s Pier will provide training and ride operator certifications so you do not need to have one to apply for the job. You will be responsible for keeping your ride clean safe for guests. You will need to help guests on the ride and off the ride. You will need to make sure each rider understands the safety rules for that ride. You will need to be able to operate the controls as well. You must be willing to work outside and stand for hours at a time.

10. Dispatcher-This job has some requirements. You must be 18 years of age or older and be good at organization. This job requires you to complete several tasks at once. You must be good with radio and telephone communications. You must provide a resume if you are interested in this position.

11. Costumed Character-You must be good with people and be able to work outside, standing for over 3 hours at a time. Morey’s Pier currently has two Mascots, Sonny C. Gull and Curley Fry. If you love entertaining than this job is for you. You should also know that when not in costume you will be required to work another position on Morey’s Pier.

12. Costumed Character Escort-All the requirements are the same as #11 except that instead of being the mascot you will be walking around the park with the mascot. You will be in charge of guiding the mascot around the park.

Where will you stay if you are not from Wildwood? Morey’s Pier has a recruiting department that will help find housing for its employee’s. The housing could consist of an apartment or a rooming/boarding house. The average cost to rent one of these places is $85 per week. You do have the option of finding your own accommodations at any time if you want to look for something cheaper (but $85 is very reasonable).
