Silk Chocolate Soy Milk Review

Skim, Skim Milk, Soy Milk

My favorite treat as a child was always chocolate milk. My health-conscious mother never let us have it in the house, but my dad would sneak up a carton occasionally. I loved the thick, creamy texture and rich chocolate flavor. Chocolate syrup in skim milk never had the same taste.

Because of my pickiness, I was skeptical about the Silk Chocolate Soy Milk product. I was encouraged by many people to switch to soy milk over dairy, but I love dairy milk and will not switch. The Silk Chocolate Soy Milk commercials, however, made the product look like a good substitute for the fattening chocolate milks I treat myself to. After the first glass, I knew I was a lifer.

Taste

Silk Chocolate Soy Milk has a rich chocolate flavor that fills your palette as effectively as dairy chocolate milks. It does lack the fullness of whole milk and is closer in texture to skim milk. Silk Chocolate Soy Milk really does a smooth, silky texture.
I am used to skim milk and prefer the lighter texture to 2% and whole milks, but even my friends who hate skim milk enjoy the chocolate soy milk texture.

Nutrition

Silk Chocolate Soy Milk is rich in soy proteins which offer benefits regular meat proteins do no give your body. A diet regular in soy proteins offers my nutritional benefits. Twenty five grams of soy protein daily is recommended to lower heart disease. Each serving of one-cup Silk Chocolate contains five of those. Silk Chocolate Soy Milk is a sweet, easy way to work soy into your diet. AN average serving has 140 calories and 3.5 rams of fat. However, none of the fat is saturated or trans fat.

Serving Suggestions

A glass of Silk Chocolate Soy Milk makes a great treat or snack any time of day. It is perfect for kids as a morning replacement for fattening chocolate milks. My favorite thing to do is pour Silk Chocolate Soy Milk over Special K Chocolate Delight cereal. It makes a healthy meal or snack, low-fat and lots of added nutrients, that tastes just like my favorite sugary kids cereals used to. I often use this to substitute for dessert and my chocolate craving is completely satisfied. My roommate does the same thing by using Silk Vanilla Soy Milk on her cereal.
