Hunting for bargains in Outlet Stores, Warehouse Clubs, or even Dollar Stores? Think you’ve got what it takes to weed out items that appear to be of the same quality as name brands. Will those cheap brands work the same? Certainly when shopping for clothes clearance doesn’t always mean quality, style or I will wear it because I like it bit that you tell yourself.
When shopping for bargain clothes at discount stores every piece of clothing you pick up will probably have a missing label, which was the bearer of the manufacturer’s name, purposely cut out. The manufacturer then becomes a mystery. You won’t know whether a big name, a name you often buy, made the piece of clothing. If you want to find out who made the clothing the label left behind, not bearing the manufacturer’s name but usually the size, should also have a unique number as an identifier of the manufacturer. The identifying number can be written down and looked up in a directory on hand at some Libraries. Call your Library and ask the Librarian if they have a directory matching numbers to identify what manufacturer made the specific piece of clothing in question. They should know what you’re talking about if they don’t then that Library most likely doesn’t carry the directory.
When buying bargain clothes consider whether or not you would have to have it altered to fit. “Are You Being Served?” A favorite British comedy of mine rakes in commission on altercations done on clothing. The salesperson who waits on you, if there is one available, may not get commission on altercations, but you will pay greatly to have it done. It could wound up costing you more than buying off the rack at a Department Store.
No clothing item that has to be dry cleaned often is worth it. There is more suitable clothing attire that can make you look just as good as that one dry cleaning piece. Besides you can take what you would spend in dry cleaning bills and buy more clothes.
If you have to buy tons of accessories to make your clothes more glamorous you might consider only buying clothes to match the accessories you already have.
Wear-ability of the clothing should be an issue. Is it seasonable? Will you be able to wear it year round?
Any piece of clothing you buy that doesn’t fit isn’t a bargain? If it’s uncomfortable and gapes open, walk away.
Bargain clothes can have something wrong with them to begin with. Clearance Centers do sell clothes that have one sleeve smaller or longer than the other does if you really look. A tiny hole or tear may be difficult to spot and a medium size may be cut to fit small.
A Factory Outlet gives savings off retail price. Somewhere around twenty five to forty percent. Last years selections are the hot sellers here. You won’t find the current trends if you are fashion conscious. If you are looking for a bargain in Factory Outlets stick to jeans or shoes.
Retail Outlets who sell overstocks from Manufacturers or Department Stores might give you the shaft. Many Retail Outlets lure you in with the promise of quality clothing and sell the cheap kind instead because they can’t always get overstocks.
Stores that sell Discontinued Merchandise on products can bring you bargains. Accessories, hair products, moisturizers, medicine, etc. can be useful.
One-Stop Shopping Stores are able to pass along bargains to you because the name brands they carry are designed for sale in their store. The quality of the name brands is not the same as it is elsewhere. They are poorer quality. You also don’t get the kind of service you would expect from other stores. Service is limited due to fewer workers.
Superstores buy in bulk and can save you money when the item is marked at ten to twenty percent off.
Warehouse clubs such as ‘Sam’s Club” are great places to shop for bargains if you love stocking up on items in bulk. They charge you a membership fee and when shopping in clubs you are responsible for getting heavy bulky items to the register and your car. Selection of brands is limited and food items are bought by the dozen or in cases.
Dollar Stores are becoming hot places to shop for just about anything. They sell name brands and even have sales but be careful, many sale items such as vitamins, are usually on sale because they are about to expire or have expired.
