Bathrooms are easy rooms to redecorate. They are smaller than most of the other rooms in the home which means they also take less time to decorate. There are so very many themes to choose from when it comes to bathroom décor. This article will show you how to redecorate your bathroom in a seashell theme.

Imagine the ocean. Vast and beautiful. Fresh and natural. Seashells come from the ocean. The beauty they possess is unique, created from life within the ocean. When you redecorate your bathroom in a seashell theme you can’t leave out the ocean.

The first thing to do to start your project is to clean the bathroom well. Wipe down all hard surfaces including walls. Make sure all bathroom items are put away so that they will not be in the way. Take anything that can be taken out of the bathroom out. Laundry hampers, movable shelves, etc.

Next choose your paint. Blues are great shades for bathrooms. They can also give you the ocean look and feel. Aqua and teal are also ocean like colors. They blend beautifully with light shades of tan to create the water and sand effect. An idea? A pale shade of blue of the walls, aqua trim, and a sandy colored vinyl or tile floor. That’s just one color combination. There can be so many with this mix of colors. Be creative!

After you’ve selected your color combination for the walls it’s time to paint. Use painters tape to avoid mistakes and accidents. This will give you clean, perfect edges and lines. Apply two coats of a durable, scrub able, high or semi gloss paint. It is important to cover your counters and floor while painting. Use a sheet of fabric or plastic to do so. Allow the paint to dry for several hours.

As you are giving the paint time to dry begin you can choose your wall border. Your local department store will likely carry seashell wall paper and border. You can find them at a low cost at stores like Wal-Mart, Home Depot, and Lowes. Get enough to do the job. Most packages of wall border contain fifteen feet. You can count on that doing one wall. Once your paint is dry apply the wall border to the top of each wall. Wall border can also be used in the middle of a wall to separate two colors. Say the bottom three feet of the wall were beige, the top of the wall was a light teal, and the trim was baby blue. The wall border would separate the bottom color from the top color. That would be a perfectly ocean themed wall.

Once your wall border has been applied and your paint is fully dry it’s time to put your bathroom back together. Bring the hamper and shelves back in. Get everything all set up. Now it’s time to add the accessories. This is the best part! Think ocean, sand and seashells. Adding real seashells as décor on a shelf is a great way to bring the seashell theme to life. Choosing a seashell or ocean themed bathmat and toilet seat cover can do this too. Tiny seashell soaps in the soap dish also add that extra seashell touch. Once your accessories are all chosen and in place you are done! You have redecorated your bathroom in a seashell theme. Thanks for reading and take care!
