SAS Radisson Hotel in Hamburg, Germany: A Rave Review

Hamburg, Radisson, Radisson Hotel, Sas

Traveling to a foreign country can often be overwhelming. Finding accommodation is one of the most daunting tasks, especially when traveling with young children. On a recent jaunt to Hamburg, Germany for a long weekend, my family and I hit the jackpot by staying at a perfect hotel, the SAS Radisson Hotel in Hamburg, Germany.

Location
The hotel is conveniently located within walking distance of everything that we wanted to see and do in Hamburg. It is easily walkable to and from the Biennalster, the town center and Rathhaus, St. Michael’s Church, and Planten und Blomen, the Botanical Gardens in Hamburg. In addition to the sites that you can see within walking distance of the SAS Radisson, visitors are also in a great location for further travel, with the Radisson near a train station, the Central Train and Bus Stations, and U-Bahn and S-Bahn subway stations. The SAS Radisson has a perfect, central location convenient for both families and singles alike.

Accommodations
We rented two rooms for five people for a three day weekend in Hamburg at the SAS Radisson. When we arrived, they were able to put us on a non-smoking floor, in rooms adjacent to one another and on a corner, so that we weren’t too bothersome with our small children. The rooms were clean, spacious, and offered necessary amenities. Satellite television was available at an additional charge, and some of the standard stations were available in English, such as CNN Europe. Black out shades were provided in rooms to help with the long daylight hours in the summer. There was no ice machine on the floor, but the front desk was happy to bring up a bucket for you at no charge. A stocked mini-refrigerator was in each room, also at an additional charge for use.

Hotel Amenities
The SAS Radisson in Hamburg, Germany had it all. A fitness center, indoor pool, and multiple restaurants and bars meant that there was much to do without even leaving the hotel. The hotel also boasts a gift shop and a helpful concierge and bell service. We did find the breakfast buffet to be a bit expensive, and it couldn’t be booked in advance at at reduced rate. However, the offering was good, and it was convenient.

Other Considerations
Visitors to Hamburg, Germany will love the SAS Radisson Hotel whether they are traveling on business or pleasure. The hotel is located within walking distance of a multitude of sightseeing opportunities, as well as the popular (and risque) Reeperbahn district. It is also directly across the street from both the Convention Center and Planten und Blomen, the Botanical Gardens. For visitors with children, good weather could amount to a full day or more’s worth of walking and exploring these gorgeous gardens, complete with waterfalls, fountains, flowers, and cafes serving beer and ice cream. The SAS Radisson is perfect, no matter what kind of traveler you are.

Pricing
The SAS Radisson was not the cheapest hotel we researched online before booking. For three nights and two rooms, our stay cost approximately $1,200 (or GBP 600). However, the hotel’s quality and location made the stay worth it in our opinion.

The SAS Radisson Hotel in Hamburg, Germany has much to offer guests and travelers to this beautiful region of Europe.
