Celebrate Oktoberfest in German style in LaCrosse, Wisconsin!

Oktoberfest 2007 in LaCrosse, Wisconsin is being held September 28 – October 6. This is the 47th year that LaCrosse is celebrating the popular German festival. This year’s 9 day festival is being held in Riverside Park in LaCrosse, Wisconsin.

Oktoberfest has origins in Old World Germany. the original Oktoberfest was a wedding celebration for Prince Ludwig and Princess Therese, in 1810. The celebration was to thank the Lord for blessings and the crops of the past year and to share in the joy of the royal family. The festival was so successful that it became an annual event.

LaCrosse is one of the few authentic Old World folk festivals held annually in the United States. Local industries and civil groups volunteer to make the event a success. The festival is held when the beautiful fall colors are at their most beautiful, as the leave change from green to an autumn rainbow of colors.

Oktoberfest USA is a happy celebration with parades, pageantry, royalty, brews, bratwurst and lively entertainment.

On Friday, September the opening day parade will start the fun at 10:15 am. .The grounds will be fill with the sounds of jovial music from the singers and the bands.

On Wednesday, October 3 Oktoberfest celebrates Heritage Night with German entertainment. Listen to the sounds of German music and watch the German dancing. Entertainers include Riverfront Singers, German Band, Oktoberfest Singers, Jazz Singers, Village Dancers, Happy Twirlers Square Dancers, Apple Annies, Click ‘n’ Grin ‘n Cloggers, Central High School Show Choir “Hilltoppers”, Ron Sacia & the Fat Daddies and more German bands. The Oktoberfest Royal Family will be introduced at 6 pm.

Oktoberfest and beer go hand in hand. There will be many types of beers available during the festival, including City Brewery Fest Bier, Bud Light, Golden Leaf Wheat, KUL Lite, Coors Light, Miller Lite, Leinenkkugels, Pabst Blue Ribbon Beer and Beck’s Oktoberfest.
