There are many things to do in San Diego, and many nice tourist attractions like Sea World and the San Diego Zoo. There are also many places to see. Whatever you do, make sure to enjoy the scenery while you are there – its something you are not likely to forget.
Mount Soledad
Mount Soledad is actually a war memorial, dedicated to those who lost their lives serving our nation. It is marked by a large cross, located on top of a hill, with panoramic views of the entire city. To the North, South, and East, you can practically see to the edge of the city on a clear day. To the West, there is a beautiful view of the ocean.
While Mount Soledad is certainly a nice place to visit during the day, be sure to pay a visit at night as well. In the day time, it seems more like a neat scenic attraction, but at night time, it can be quite romantic. Usually, you can feel a cool breeze at night, and the views of the city lights are spectacular. You can make out the buildings of downtown, and if you look closely enough, you can see the outline of the Coronado bridge.
La Jolla Cove
La Jolla Cove is one of the prettiest places in San Diego. It is known for both its scenery, and the ritzy “Beverly Hills like” area surrounding it. You can walk down to the “Sea Wall” and get up close to the ocean, or you can get a spectacular view of the ocean from the cliffs that over look it. You can also get an up close look at marine life in the “tide pools” and nearby caves adjacent to the ocean.
The Beaches Of San Diego
There are many scenic beaches in San Diego, and each one has a unique personality. La Jolla Shores is probably the most family friendly, but can also get quite crowded. If you want to get away from the crows, just walk North toward Scripps Beach, and enjoy views of the ocean, and the cliffs that over look it.
Pacific Beach and Mission Beach do not offer as much scenery as La Jolla Shores, but they offer more personality and culture than La Jolla Shores. At both beaches, you can shop and eat, but there is actually a roller coaster at Mission Beach, and you can take a walk on the pier at Pacific Beach.
If you are looking for something more secluded, take a visit to Wind And Sea Beach, located just a few miles from La Jolla Cove. Large waves often break very close to shore, and you can see surfers catching waves in the distance.
Other Scenic Places In San Diego
San Diego has some other great view points to see as well. One place to pay a visit to is Cabrillo National Monument, which has a neat light house, and picturesque views of the ocean, reminiscent of La Jolla Cove. The only drawback is that it is not free to get in.
You may also want to take a drive over the Coronado Bridge, and don’t forget to take a walk through San Clemente Canyon and Mission Trails Park. Whatever you do, make sure to go out and see the city – and take plenty of pictures while you are at it!
