Rubber duckies make an adorable and easy to execute theme for any baby shower. Whether the baby shower is for a baby boy, baby girl, or for the expectant mom who is going to be surprised, the rubber duck theme is a great choice. Here is everything you need to know to plan and throw your own rubber ducky themed baby shower.
Decorations. Rubber ducky decorations are easy to find. You don’t necessarily have to seek out decorations that already have a rubber duck theme, but rather you can create your own. Purchase light blue and light yellow cups, plates, and napkins. These will fit the theme perfectly and you will save a little money getting plain colors. For the tables, purchase several little rubber duckies in all sizes. You can easily find rubber ducks ranging in size from very tiny to very large. Scatter them around the table with some light blue confetti to act as water. Rubber ducky stickers are easy to find so you may wish to purchase some to decorate your cups. You can also use some fishing line to hang rubber duckies all around the room. You can hang some from the light fixtures, curtain rods, or even on the backs of chairs. For a simple addition to your serving and cake table, fill several glass containers (vases, drinking glasses, goblets, etc) with water. Snacks and Cake. The foods you eat at the baby shower are also easy to center around the rubber ducky theme. However, if you would like to stay simple, you can make a round layer cake and ice it with light blue icing. Use a decorating bag without a tip placed in the end to make large white balls going up the sides of the cake which will be bubbles. On the top of the cake, simply sit several very small rubber duckies. This cake is super cute and super simple. You may also consider creating small rubber ducky candies by using a mold and colored chocolate melts in yellow and light blue. You could serve both regular lemonade and berry lemonade, died blue with food coloring. Try serving a fruit pizza that is topped with only blueberries and banana slices. Centering at least some of the foods you serve around the blue and yellow color theme will make the baby shower even more special.
Favors. If you choose to give away party favors at your baby shower, you can also center those around the rubber ducky theme. For instance, you could give out small stationary packs which you hand create. Just purchase ready-to-decorate plain cards. Take one small rubber ducky sticker and place it at the top center of each card. Then tie the cards together in packs of 5 using a simple ribbon, or even strips of scrapbooking paper. Another idea would be to give each guest a small bottle of shower gel or bubble bath. Try to find them in blue and yellow colors and they’ll fit in just great with your bath time baby shower theme.
Games. You can even design your baby shower party games around the rubber ducky theme. For a gift for the mom-to-be, purchase a baby bathtub. Take several rubber ducks and put numbers on the bottom using a permanent marker. Fill up the baby bathtub with water, and set the ducks floating in the water. The game plays like a classic fair game. Each guest picks up a duck from floating in the water. The one who chooses the right pre-determined number wins a prize. You can also place a rubber duck sticker randomly on the bottom of one of the food plates as a prize giveaway.
