Reviewing Rembrandt Whitening Strips Premium

Rembrandt, Tooth Sensitivity, White Smile, Whitening Strips

Rembrandt Whitening Strips Premium has slightly new packaging, and a new ‘flavor’ to ease your whitening process. I recently tried these whitening strips to see if their claims are well earned or not. Here’s what I found.

Ease of Use

Rembrandt whitening strips premium are a 5-7 day whitening system. There is an upper and lower whitening strip package within the main silver container that it comes in, so you can keep them straight when applying. Apply the upper and lower strips to freshly cleaned teeth after you’ve swished around some water in your mouth for 15 seconds; wet teeth help the strips adhere. Leave these strips in for 30 minutes and remove by swishing water in your mouth again for 15 seconds to loosen them before pulling them off. You only need to do this once a day, and be sure not to drink, eat, or smoke during the duration you have them on; it’s okay to eat and drink after you remove them. They are very simple to use and don’t require any additional products.

Flavor

The package claims that there is a new “Mint” flavor to the strips that makes them easier to have in your mouth for the appropriate duration. However, when I used them there is little to no flavor of mint. It still tastes pasty like other whitening strips, and has no ‘gourmet’ properties at all. But this is to be expected since you won’t be eating them, just leaving them over your teeth for 30 minutes a day.

Performance

As far as their whitening abilities, they whitened my teeth by about three shades-a significant change because my teeth had a somewhat yellow color before. However, there are quite a few drawbacks. The first one is somewhat universal to all whitening strips-tooth sensitivity. Your teeth will be sensitive for the duration of use (5-7 days) and a week or so afterwards, depending on how sensitive your teeth are to begin with. The second, more significant drawback was gum irritation. The second day I used them my gums were irritated on the top strip, but there was no lingering effect afterwards. The third day I used them, I found sores that looked like canker sores in two places on my gums where the strips touched the gum slightly. However, unlike canker sores, these sores went away within an hour after removing the strips. You have to be careful to cover your teeth without overlapping too far onto the gum, or this will likely happen to anyone.

Price

For the 7 day system, you will expect to pay anywhere between $20-25. Some canisters may have a $5.00 off coupon redeemable at purchase, like the one I purchased. Depending on where you go they will be more or less $20.00. If you compare this to Crest whitening strips that are also called ‘premium,’ this is at least $15-20 less. Overall the Rembrandt Whitening Strips Premium are a reasonably priced way to whiten your teeth for a more significantly white smile.
