Review: UniFlame Gas Grill

We have had nestled on our porch for around 10 years, an old BBQ grill. The grill really gave it it’s all, and with a new spring season about to approach us, we figured it was time we let it retire when it came to grilling (God no, we did not throw it out. We kept it only for large BBQ’s so we’d have 2).

We were not in the market to go crazy and spent $800+ on a new grill. We wanted something simple, roomy and something cheap. We wanted to keep it under $200, and figured if we only get 3 years out of the cheap new grill, it would be money well spent.

I know when you go into the grill market looking for a cheap grill, you get what you pay for, so when we came across a UniFlame Gas Grill at our local Walmart for $177, we both already knew that likely it probably would not last long, but for the price, we couldn’t beat it.

The UniFlame had a very large 478″ sq. cooking surface, which was more than enough room for semi large BBQ’s. The box that the unit came in also boasts that there was enough room on the surface for 24 burgers. I can’t say it lied, because the surface plate it very large. Although we won’t really have a need to grill 24 burgers, it’s nice knowing that the UniFlame can handle such a capacity if needed.

The warming rack sits just above the cooking rack and is 193″ sq. It is large enough to slap on plenty of buns to keep the whole family satisfied.

The Ignition on the UniFlame is electronic. Our last grills was the same, and it broke in about a week. This is not a loss if it goes out, as you can use a lighter. However we’ve fired the UniFlame up quite a few times and so far the igniter seems to work like a charm. I imagine though that it will not last long; like the last grill.

Assembly:

Assembling the UniFlame grill was easy. All of the instructions were written out in easy to follow directions, and my boyfriend put it together himself. It took him about an hour, and mainly the only thing that annoyed him was having to place screws in through the pre-cut holes. Other than fumbling fingers, assembling the grill can be done alone, and does not take all too much effort.

Use:

The UniFlame cooks food fast, evenly, and yum….we we have been enjoying quick delicious BBQ’s since we set the grill up.

Now although the UniFlame cooks food in a jiff, the unit does of course suffer some minor cons. For a unit this inexpensive though it’s only natural to encounter some things that are not quite up to par.

The only issue though that we encountered with this grill though is the flame. There seems to be more heat/flame being distributed in the back area of the cooking grill. If you want to really sear things up in a jiffy you can place food towards the back, however if you are looking for an even well cooked piece of meat than I’d recommend cooking food to the middle and to the sides.

Other than that one minor issue though, the UniFlame seems to be a pretty damn near perfect grill for what we paid.

With spring in the air, and summer right around the corner, I cannot recommend this grill more. It’s perfect for those on a budget, and it features enough room to feed the entire family, and the neighbors.
