Review: Revlon ColorStay Liquid Eyeliner

Colorstay, Eyeliner, Liquid Eyeliner, Liquid Liner, Revlon Colorstay

I’m such a huge fan of Revlon ColorStay eyeliner. My usual eyeliner in the Revlon ColorStay family has always been the eyeliner pen. Tonight though, when I went to pick up my usual, I sadly ran into an empty rack. Sold out, the dreaded feeling that washed over me. If you have ever used ColorStay Eyeliner Pens, then you should know exactly how it felt. My favorite, gone! Left with no other option, I searched around for something similar.

I hated CoverGirls selection, and had already tried Maybelline’s newest selection, and was not impressed. I looked closer back over at the selection of Revlon liners and this was where I found a package containing Revlon ColorStay Liquid Eyeliner.

Now, I used to be a big fan of liquid liner in the past, but found that the prices were high, and the liquid did not last as long as the eyeliner pens. I really didn’t have a choice though, so I went ahead and bought it.
The liquid eyeliner comes in a standard tube that most liquid liners me in; a small pyramid-like shaped cylinder of a tube, with a simple twist off cap.

There is a small ball inside of the tube that you can hear rattling around when you shake the tube.

When buying Revlon ColorStay Liquid Eyeliner, the only thing I wished for was exact results I got with the sister pen. I wanted long lasting, fade free liner for my lids. Nothing more, nothing less.

The application tip used to apply the liquid eyeliner to your lids is a nice pointed felt tip allowing for easy application. Like I said, I was hesitant because I have always felt like I had more control with an eyeliner pen, however I must say that Revlon’s ColorStay Liquid Eyeliner really gave me control over the application due to the felt tip, and the way that the tip saturates in the liquid formula.

I personally like to add a thick line to my upper lid, and a thinner line to my lower eyelid. The felt tip gave me a nice sleek line and allowed me to point the liner outwards which made the eye look larger, and neater.

The last was just as remarkable as the ColorStay pen eyeliner which was exactly what I wanted. The liquid eyeliner gave me all day long, smudge and fade proof lids. I was a happy camper.

Then I ask myself would I continue to use liquid eyeliner, or would I go back to the original ColorStay pen which I know and love? The answer is simple.

As much as I like the liquid version of the eyeliner, I am still a fan of the pen. Although the liquid liner gives me a more striking neat line at the corners of my eye, I still find that the pen glides easier over my lid. With the liquid eyeliner the glide was nice and easy, but when I needed to fix up missed areas on the eyelid the surrounding liner had already dried giving my lids a crumbled look. Thankfully the crumbled appearance absorbs and fades away as the entire lid dries, but the crumbly texture makes room for errors which I don’t ever face when using the ColorStay pen.

At this point though it is all a matter of preference. I personally prefer the pen, but if liquid eyeliner is your thing than I would highly suggest this one to you because the last is long lived, and the results are relatively flawless.
