Review of Rimmel’s Lasting Finish Foundation

Face Powder, Rimmel

Rimmel products are among the most exciting of inexpensive drug store cosmetics lines. I’ve had good to very good experiences with every one of their products. One reason I love Rimmel’s Lasting Finish foundation is because, just as it claims, it is very long-lasting. The company claims it lasts up to 16 hours and in my experience it may last even longer.

It is also one of the most price competitive on the market at around $6.49 to $7.29 each. It comes in a nice selection of shades for lighter complexions. Finding the right foundation is a real challenge if you are very light complected. Rimmel offers “Porcelain” and “Ivory.” You can blend a couple of shades together to achieve exactly the one you need and at Rimmel’s prices that is an affordable proposition.

This product does not contain a sunscreen, so I do not recommend it for day-time use. But, it is very good in the evening. Apply it with a moistened sponge or your fingers. It is light and oil-free, but once it dries, it stays exactly where you put it and repairs are difficult. So, make sure you have it properly blended before moving on the next stage of your make-up regimen.

Since this product does not contain oil, you might be able to get away with applying the foundation alone. But, for a highly polished look, you’ll still want to finish off with your usual face powder and rouge.

The price and the wide array of shades make Rimmel irresistible, even though I still use other brands of foundations. The Rimmel Lasting Finish foundation is extremely portable, too. It comes in a light-weight one-ounce plastic tube. I purchase about one or two of these tubes a year.
