Review of Frontline Plus – Anti Flea and Tick

Frontline Plus

Front Line Plus is a great product for dogs and cats alike. Front Line Plus is effective, easy to apply, and extremely convenient. Front Line Plus is available for purchase via your veterinarian or over the counter at your local pet store. Front Line Plus works well on fleas, I have found one flea on one of my dogs this summer. However I am not as impressed with the effectiveness of Front Line Plus on ticks. As I live in the country, frequently I walk my dogs in fields, and tall grass. This year was horrible for ticks in Ohio, and that is the main reason I use Front Line Plus on my dogs.

In the beginning of the summer, I had to pull multiple ticks off of both of my dogs every day. I think the tick is a gross creature, and I asked my vet about this. I learned that the ticks and fleas do not die instantly. My vet advised me to wait for a few hours and let the medicine kill the ticks. Reluctantly I did leave the Front Line Plus to do its work. The next morning those nasty ticks were still on my dogs and they were not dead.

You can imagine my frustration. If you spend that much money on Front Line Plus, you would expect that it would be 100% completely effective. I am pleased with its performance against fleas, but its performance on ticks could certainly use improvements. I have however not found any other product that works better on ticks. Maybe Front Line Plus should be sold in two formulas, city or indoor pets and wooded area pets. I am sure that if I did not live in such an extreme country setting the product would be very effective!

If you need Front Line Plus, it is a lot more affordable to purchase it from your vet. Normally an appointment is not necessary. If you purchase Front Line Plus via your vet, you will get a much better deal. You will also get a three pack. If you buy it at the Pet Store it is really expensive, and you will get one dose for only a few dollars less than you could get at the vets office.

It is important to buy the correct sized dose for your pet. Weigh the dog or cat proper to purchasing the Front Line Plus; as if you get a dose for a smaller pet, the medicine will not work effectively.
