Review of Airmesh Dish Chair – Great for Dorm Rooms

Desk Chair, Dorm Rooms

Seating in dorm rooms is always limited. Most guests come in and sit right on your bed because there is no where else to go. This always bothered me so I decided to purchase an extra chair to keep on hand in my room for anyone who needs a place to sit. I bought the Airmesh Dish Chair for $30 from Target. It comes in red, blue, and black. I chose the black since it was the most versatile and fit in best with our room. It is dark but I fixed that by putting a throw pillow on it.

The chair folds down flat which makes it perfect for a dorm room. I often fold it up and put it in my closet when I do not expect anyone to be using it to keep it out of the way. It will also be great when time comes to pack it into the car.

The chair is made out of a meshy material on top of a layer of foam. The cover does not come off but it can be spot cleaned. I haven’t had to clean mine yet since the black hides all stains.

The chair feels pretty sturdy but I would not suggest jumping on it. It probably would not hold more than 200 pounds. It can be tippy so be careful when sitting down quickly and make sure children are aware of this. This chair would be perfect for kids, especially as a chair in their bedroom. Some of my guy friends have these as well and they use them for playing video games because they are more comfortable than traditional chairs.

I often use mine when I need to read for long periods of time because it is easier to sit in than my desk chair. I was hoping I could use this to replace my desk chair but it is way too low. Keep this in mind if you are someone who has trouble getting in and out of chairs because it does take a little more work than a regular chair.

The only problem I have with this chair is that it could use a little extra padding. Sometimes I feel like I am sitting right on the metal bars. Overall, for the price this chair is what you would expect. I don’t see myself using it after I move out of the dorms but it is doing well to serve its purpose for now. If you can, I suggest you try the Microfiber Sphere Chair from Target for an extra $10 instead.
