Rejuvenating Aspirin Face Mask

Face Mask

Many DIY face masks use many of the same products that you find within your home, mainly your kitchen and bathroom cupboards. Now it’s time to look inside the medicine cabinet! One of the most beneficial face masks you can make at home uses regular, uncoated aspirin, and is one of the most effective and immediate home made facial treatments you can use!

There are two face masks that I often use that have aspirin as their main ingredient. One is an exfoliator that can get rid of blackheads, acne, and oily patches. The other is a moisturizing mask that pulls the natural moisture of your skin up to the surface while cleaning the dead cells from your face. In this article I will explain in detail how to make and use both of these wonderful masks.

When using aspirin in a face mask or cleanser, you should always use uncoated aspirin. The process in which you get the powdered aspirin should be done by an adult, as crushing pills isn’t a habit you want your children getting into. Both face masks I will describe will use about 4-6 aspirin, crushed into a powder as fine as you can get it. I use a mortar and pestle, but many modern day kitchens don’t have this ancient luxury. You can always use a sturdy wooden spoon and ceramic bowl instead. Once you have a fine powder of aspirin, put it aside and get ready to try a fantastic new way to keep your face healthy and beautiful!

For a simple exfoliating aspirin mask, use your aspirin powder, about two teaspoons of water, and a very generous pinch of sea salt. You need to mix these things with your hands so they all become a runny mixture, and leave it to sit for about 3 minutes so it gets a bit less like a liquid and more like a chunky frappé. Once you’ve let the mixture sit, you can apply on your face in small circular motions with the tips of your fingers. Big pieces of sea salt are rubbed against your skin to aid the aspirin in removing dead skin cells and promoting growth of healthy new ones. Because there are two agents that are so good at cleansing your skin they can be harsh if left on too long, you should rinse this mixture off in about 4 or 5 minutes. This face mask is incredibly effective if you have oily skin, acne, blackheads, white heads, or just tough areas where you break out often. Everyone that has used this face mask recipe has seen promising, immediate results, and continues to use it weekly to this day.

If your skin is more dry than oily, you might want to try this face mask instead. Take the aspirin powder and add two teaspoons of water. Instead of adding sea salt, add a teaspoon of natural honey and a meager splash of coconut oil. Again, mix with the tips of your fingers, and leave it to sit for a minute or two. Instead of applying this mask by rubbing your fingertips in small circles, try using a brush stroke type of pattern, getting the mixture to effectively penetrate your pores a bit better. Since this is a moisturizing mask and isn’t harsh on your skin, you can leave it on for about 8 minutes before it’s wise to rinse. Again, this mask will give you amazing immediate results, and has been known to be especially effective on faces with dry patches, eczema, or blotchy skin.

No matter if your skin is oily, dry, prone to break out with serious acne or constantly giving you those pesky dark circles under your eyes, an aspirin mask can be just the ticket to that youthful, radiant, evenly toned look you’ve been searching for.
