Making your camper feel more like a home is one way to ensure that you have a more restful and peaceful vacation. These are some little tricks and ideas to make your older camper feel more like a home away from home.
Here is how I plan to add new life to this older camper so that we can really enjoy it on our vacations.
Curtains
I have gone up and removed all the curtains from the camper. I removed them so I could get these washed up and packed away. Before they are packed away, I will measure of them so that I would know what size to make the new curtains. This will be the first step in freshening up in outdated camper.
Our curtains will have tiebacks so that I can open them up during the day so we can get natural light and fresh air. We will also be able to see the great outdoors.
Wallpaper
Our camper is full of dark paneling, as it is in older camper. Therefore, I have plans to go to the dollar store, buy some wallpaper, and brighten it up in there.
Granted there is no running water or electricity in the campsite, but we usually haul water from one of the homes nearby or let the ice melt. I know if the wallpaper I purchase is the pre-pasted kind, I can simply add water in the kitchen sink. This way I can easily hang wallpaper.
Wash the walls down first, to remove any surface dirt.
Repairs
For older camper, this one needs little repair work but it does need some. Ray and his friend Derek can fix the bathroom floor, which is weak, while I repair the two ripped screens. Everything else within the camper is structurally safe, so we have no worries in any of those departments.
Windows
I will be watching the Windows, inside and out as I clean the camper for our summer vacation. The windows are still in very good repair, which is great, as it does tend to get expensive to replace glass.
If one wanted to they could also provides a decorative window coverings on these windows in a camper but I prefer to look at nature outside.
Sweep the floor
Once all the work inside is completed sweep the floor, and mop if necessary. The tile in the camper is fine, but a bit faded.
Footpath
The footpath to our camper, as all of the campers and tents within the campsite have an American flag our camper while also have a small all Australian flag so that Ray will feel right at home.
Also near each footpath is potted flowers to make them appear more like the little homes that they are. May you can make your footpath with bricks or steppingstones whenever. I am thinking of just putting large flat steppingstones so that the path is always even.
Decorations
You can decorate your older camper for vacation, so that it feels like home. I am sure that in your house you have spare decorations. Take these spares and place in the camper to make it feel more like home. My living room is full of angels here at home, but I also have some angel pictures as well as things that hang in the window and some of these will be going to hang in the camper.
