Raising Cane’s Restaurant a Fresh New Vision for Fast Food

Tailgating Parties, Texas Toast

One day while driving through Columbus Ohio, I saw a sign for Raising Cane’s Restaurant. I had never seen or heard of this restaurant and feeling adventurous, I thought I would try something new.

Upon entering the restaurant, I was immediately greeted with a friendly welcome by an employee cleaning tables. The interior was spacious and open and decorated with pictures of dogs and OSU Buckeye Football paraphernalia. The entire restaurant was spotless even though it was lunch time and the place was packed. I considered it a very good sign that they were so busy and made my way to the cashier.

Approaching the cashier I was once again greeted by a very sincere and friendly employee. Reading the menu only takes a few seconds as I realize they only serve one item and that is chicken fingers. I thought to myself that for a restaurant to only offer one item on the menu it had better be the best you have ever had! The only variation is that you can order them on a bun for a sandwich. They also offer big boxes of chicken strips for tailgating parties as they are located near the OSU Buckeye Football stadium.

I ordered a chicken strip basket that included french fries, cole slaw, texas toast and their famous dipping sauce. Instead of giving you a number they take your first name to call when your order is ready. Within 2 minutes I picked up my food and settled into a booth. The food smelled wonderful and was piping hot. First I took a bite of the chicken strips. It was delicious. Unlike other fast food restaurants these chicken strips are big and juicy and never frozen. They taste like hand battered chicken strips you would make at home if you had the time. Intrigued by the special dipping sauce I tried that next. I was hooked! Now I knew why they didn’t offer any other sauces, with a sauce this good there is no reason to offer anything else. Its hard to describe the sauce but it has a spicy tangy flavor that really complements the chicken. The french fries are the thin crinkle kind that crisp up so nicely when fried. The cole slaw and texas toast tasted wonderful and are a nice addition to the chicken. Their price’s are just a bit higher then you would pay at other fast food restaurant’s but definitely worth the extra money.

After I finished my meal I read some of the many posters with pictures of dogs. Apparently Cane is the name of the founder’s dog thus the name Raising Cane’s. Its a great story to read and you can tell that it was important to the founder to create a new vision for a fast food restaurant that served fresh hot delicious food by employees that were happy in their jobs and friendly to the customers. I highly recommend having a meal at Raising Cane’s and my only wish is that they had more locations in Ohio.
