Raised Heart Wedding Centerpiece

Now you’re to the point of planning the wedding where you have to decide on the centerpieces or other decorations for the reception tables. You have lots of choices, that’s for sure, but what’s more appropriate for a wedding reception table than flowers? Of course, you can set out vases of flowers, and those would be beautiful, but, when you make the flowers into a large heart, you create a simple yet elegant table centerpiece that conveys the feeling of the day.

There are several different ways to make a raised centerpiece so that it doesn’t lie flat on the table. One way is to start with a color scheme for the roses. Mix and match red, pink and white ones, or even yellow and white. Purchase real or silk roses in the chosen colors.

Use tiny glasses to make one type of raised heart centerpiece for the wedding. Small glasses that are made for holding toothpicks work well but you can also use juice glasses or similar pieces. Depending upon the sizes of the roses it could take just one rose per glass or it could take several. Make a flower arrangement in each glass so that you can’t see the rim of the glass when looking down at it. Arrange the glasses on the reception table so that they form a heart shape.

Make something a little more interesting by using assorted sizes of glasses instead of pieces which are all the same height. Purchase the tiny toothpick glasses for the roses around the point of the heart. For the flowers along the sides of the heart, use taller juice glasses. Place the remainder of the roses in even taller drink glasses. With this arrangement, the heart is not only raised off the table but also tilts so guests can view it from a different angle.

With silk flowers you can use hot glue to make other arrangements. One is done by using dowels from a craft or hardware store. Glue one rose or other flower onto each dowel then arrange them in the heart shape on the reception table. Paint the dowels before gluing a flower to the top of each one. Dowels which are at least an inch in diameter will stand well.

With the dowel design you can choose the length of the dowels – and, therefore, the height of the raised heart. Make one design using dowels which are all the same. Make the tilted design by using smaller dowels at the point of the heart, larger ones around the sides, and taller ones around the two top areas of the heart.

The raised heart for the wedding reception tables is not at all hard to create, but when it’s displayed, it’s simply gorgeous. Use nearly any type of flower to make the heart centerpiece that works best for your particular wedding theme or color scheme. Don’t forget to include a green leaf, here and there on the arrangement, for the completed look.
