Rainbow Folders is a neat little program that allows you to change the color and look of your windows folders. If you are looking for a way to add a little fun to your folders, then I recommend you download Rainbow Folders. This program is less than a megabyte in size and takes up little space on your computer. I downloaded my copy from Tucows.com.
After you have downloaded the program, double click on the zip file to install it. It only takes a minute to install. Then double click the Rainbow Folder to open the program.
On the left side of your program you will see your list of folders. Click on a folder that you want to change. In the top right corner of your program you will see the preview of what you are doing to your folder. Right below the preview box you will see the Style drop down box. Drop that box down and select the style that you want to use. The styles that are available are Typical, Classical, and Modern. Drop the box down and select your style.
Below the Preview section is the color section. This is where you will select the color that you want for your folder. You can move the two bars around to get different colors. You can also click the Randomize button to get random colors. To apply a color to a folder, click the Colorize button on the left. To undo the color, click the Decolorize button.
You can save colors as favorites. If you find a color that you really like and want to use it on other folders, simply save them. Click the Favorites button on the right. When the window opens, click the add button on the right. A box will pop up and you will need to type in a name for the color. Click OK on the box to save it. Then click the Close button at the bottom to close the Favorites window.
To use your favorites, click on a folder that you want to change. Then click the Favorites button. When the Favorites window opens, click the color that you want for the folder. Then click the Select button. Click the Close button to close the Favorites box.
You can also tick the High Contrast field to give it a higher contrast look. There are many folders on your computer. So can spend some time changing the look of all of your folders.
