With such a large selection on the market these days, laundry detergent can be an important decision in many American households. Some people have allergies and need dye-free and scent-free detergents and sometimes you just need to find a detergent that cleans better than the one you used before. For myself, the majority of my detergent decisions are based completely on the fragrances available and the price tag on that brand. I’m a huge fan of fragrance. If I can not stand the scent then I just won’t use that detergent whether or not it’s a good price.
My favorite way to try out new laundry detergents is to simply get a free sample from the company. That is how I found my current favorite detergent. That is also how I happen to have the opportunity to try out the new Tide Simple Pleasures in the Vanilla & Lavender scent.
Tide has always been a very popular household name when it comes to laundry detergent. So it’s never a big surprise when Tide comes out with new fragrance combinations for their laundry detergents. Tide’s Simple Pleasures line comes in three different scents; Vanilla & Lavender, Water Lily & Jasmine and Rose & Violet.
Today I decided to try out my sample of the Simple Pleasures Vanilla & Lavender detergent. When I opened the sample pouch of detergent the first thing that I noticed was how strong the fragrance was. The scent was very pungent and, in actuality, it does not really smell like vanilla or lavender. It was more like a combination of many different flowers. Very perfum-y
The scent of Tide’s Simple Pleasures Vanilla & Lavender is a very flowery fragrance – and not flowery as in it smells like a lavender flower. I was expecting something completely different when I smelled this detergent. Maybe I was expecting a scent that actually resembled vanilla and/or lavender. Even though the scent was not what I had wanted, it wasn’t all together a bad fragrance….. at first.
While washing my laundry in the Simple Pleasures Vanilla & Lavender, the hot water actually seemed to accentuate the scent even more. My whole laundryroom smelled flowery. By the time that load of laundry had completed it’s time in the washing machine I was completely tired of the scent, which was SUPPOSE to be vanilla & lavender.
The fragrance on the laundry was still very strong when the laundry went into the clothes dryer. Once the laundry came out of the dryer the scent had dissipated a little but was still very strong. Now if you like this scent then I can assure you that you will certainly be able to smell it for many days after you have washed your clothing in it. Which is a plus in a laundry detergent fragrance that you actually enjoy.
Tide Simple Pleasures Vanilla & Lavender does a fantastic job when it comes to getting your laundry clean. I had several articles of clothing in that load of laundry that I thought would need some stain remover but they all came out spotless. Of course, you could get that same cleaning power from any Tide laundry detergent. Tide is known for having very superior products, so the cleaning power of the Simple Pleasures did not surprise me at all.
I suppose that you could say that my opinion on Tide Simple Pleasures Vanilla & Lavender is half and half. On the one hand it is an excellent detergent that cleans wonderfully but on the other hand the fragrance was a big turn off for me. The scent may not be a big deal to some people but if you are wanting to try the Simple Pleasures line it is usually because of the scents available on that product line.
If you are interested in this product then I highly suggest that you get a sample of it to try before you spend your hard earned money on a whole bottle of it. Also keep in mind that the Simple Pleasures Vanilla & Lavender does not actually smell like vanilla or lavender. Tide has joined with Downey to create matching scents in fabric softener for the Simple Pleasures product line. So if you find one that you like don’t forget the fabric softener to enhance your experience. I think I will try the Rose & Violet next time. Hopefully it will at least smell a little like rose and violet.
