Product Review: Planter’s Peanut Butter Cookie Crisps

100 Calories, Chips Ahoy, Peanut Butter Cookie, Polyunsaturated Fat

In a previous article I wrote about Chips Ahoy! Thin Crisps, I mentioned how I liked the fact that there were just 100 calories in every pack. My confidence in the Planter’s brand of snack increased from this positive experience which is why I chose to buy Planter’s Peanut Cookie Crisps. Just like the Chips Ahoy! brand these also contain just 100 calories per pack. The Peanut Butter Cookie Crisps came in a box of 6 for $1.59, or $0.26 per packet.

Each serving of Planter’s Peanut Butter Crisps comes in a 24 g (6.08 oz) bag, which is just enough for a light snack in between meals. When I bought this product, I was under the impression that the snack was a peanut butter type sandwich biscuit, but when I tried it, I found that it was just a thin piece of biscuit in the shape of a peanut shell. I did not mind about this. I found the taste to pleasing. It had a crunch to it and I could definitely taste the peanut butter in this product.

The nutrition facts show that this is a low calorie and a low fat food. That is important to know because some people are often confused at the difference between “low calorie” and “low fat”. These terms do not mean the same thing. Food can be low calorie but still contain high levels of fat.

The sodium level is not too bad. It provides 7% of a person’s daily recommended amount, which is useful to know if you are trying to keep your daily sodium intake down to a more reasonable level. However, the carbohydrate level is high, as this product contains flour, cornflour, and leavening agents. The sugar is lower than in a lot of other snacks that have unhealthy levels of sugar in them.

I enjoyed Planter’s Peanut Butter Cookie Crisps. They were crunchy, tasty and full of flavour. I was actually tempted to have another packet! I would highly recommend this snack. It can stave off hunger and keep you going until it is time for your next meal.
