The Intellinet Wireless 450N Dual Band Gigabit Router is a two band router to eliminate congestion and give you the best performance in a firewall and network hardware solution. The Wireless 450N Router uses dual bands at 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz to give you the best wireless communication throughout your network.

The Intellinet 450N Router model number 524988 combines dual band wireless technology with easy to use network and security setup for your wireless and wired devices. The Intellinet Router package comes with the router that uses three routers, a power adapter, network Cat5e cable, manual and driver disc.

The Intellinet router uses the dual bands so you can setup your higher performance needs like streaming video on the 5 GHz band and use the lower band for more common everyday tasks. The dual bands of course require your wireless receiving device like a laptop to be configured for this higher band which is one problem I ran into.

The Intellinet 450N router uses two bands of frequencies at 2.4GHz and 5 GHz for your wireless devices to connect to the router. The 450N router works well for your wired devices as well and I had no problems with a network drive and all my computers on the home network.

I connected the Intellinet router and had no problems getting things set up in a few minutes, it took as long to connect the device as it did to get the settings working. The settings page is available from your browser as routers usually are and has four sections with a quick setup that is your usual first choice.

You can set all your network up from the three settings pages after getting your network connected including the firewall and security settings that give you safety on your network. The settings include a lot of the usual features like port forwarding and parental configuration to block specific websites from any computer on the network.

The Intellinet 450N router is easy to setup and to add devices you can use the general settings page to enter your security features then add devices using either security keys or the Wi-Fi Protected Setup(WPS). The 450N Router can be used as a point to point, access point or repeater as one of many components in a network including a switch with the four back network connections.

The Intellinet router performs as well as any other router I have configured and installed on my network in that it gets the full throughput from my service at 3 Gigabytes download and 1 Gigabyte upload speed. I was receiving about 2.94 download speeds on average and .88 upload speed using the Speedtest.net testing for internet speeds.

I could not fully test the router to find its top speed but this router worked fine for me with several computers at one time both streaming video and online gaming at the same time. Often at night my sons are gaming or watching television while I am usually playing online games and occasionally my wife joins the family on a separate computer to watch some streaming video.

I have not had any problems with gaming or watching online shows or movies throughout the month or so of reviewing the Intellinet router and no problem with four people on the internet at the same time. I have also had no problems updating my website and getting my sites pictures and videos uploaded but due to my network providers lower speed it does take a little more time.

The wired connections work better at these higher use types of internet connections so I would recommend online gaming and streaming video using a wired connection when it’s possible. I usually only use a wireless connection for surfing the internet, email and the occasional video using a laptop but when anyone wants they get a clutter free connection without problems.

I was getting a slight decrease which was my lower ends of test speeds using the 5 GHz only band and the best speeds while using the 2.4 GHz with the averages being right on while using both bands. I found out that while using the higher band of network wireless communication this is a common occurrence but had never tested a router that included both bands.

The higher band usually has the lesser connection speed, only about .02 GHz lower on average, but is much better for larger data like streaming video. The Wi-Fi Multimedia feature prioritizes media and streaming using the band you select for the device that uses that band which is a plus for dual band devices.

I have access to a laptop that uses both bands and can setup the laptop to stream video using only the 5 GHz band so that traffic on both bands is optimized. This separates the traffic so that one band uses mostly one type of traffic and the other is used for more general traffic like web surfing.

The router passed all tests I could throw at it including the security where I visited testing sites that probed and tried to bust through the firewall and the router did fine for all tests. Setting up ports for gaming was never needed as the router did all the settings for online gaming without me having to do anything and the same was for security.

After setting my initial security I never had any problems with any settings for the Intellinet router except for testing and making sure everything works and is secure. The Intellinet router is a great router and I had no problems using it for my online gaming and video streaming along with the general internet use.

Intellinet was founded in 1992 and while not main stream like D-Link, Cisco or Netgear the company has released quite a few routers and looks to be a new contender in the networking field. I highly recommend the Intellinet 450N Dual-Band Router for a simple network solution for a router, switch and secure point to point or repeater device.
