Preventing Itchy Cold Weather Dry Skin

As we get older, our skin is not able to retain as much moisturize and the cold weather makes it even worse. While our hands and feet get the worse of the cold weather, every part of the body is acceptable to become cracked and itchy. Fortunately, there are some simple ways that you can prevent itchy and dry skin during the cold seasons.

Vitamin A:

People who lack enough vitamin A in their diet will most defiantly see the results in their skin. A deficiency of vitamin A can cause the skin to become dry, scaly, and may develop patches of dark skin. Vitamin A should be given gradually and built-up to the right dosage. Vitamin B and C are also important to keep the skin soft and healthy. Adding more of these vitamins to your daily diet can help improve the look and feel of your skin.

Moisturizer:

Your daily beauty routine should consist of a facial and body moisturizer. Avoid products that contain harsh chemicals and try to use all natural products. Choose moisturizers that contain aloe vera, sunflower oil, calendula, and jojoba. Apply your moisturizer after showering to remove dead skin. Look for a product that contains vitamin E and is free of dyes and scents.

Diet:

For a long term goal of amazingly soft skin, you will need to adjust your diet. Avoid diuretics such as caffeine and alcohol as these can actually dehydrate your body. Drink at least 8 glasses of water everyday to get a natural glow. Your everyday diet should consist of fresh fruits and vegetables. It also contains calcium, iron, and protein which are needed by the body to stay looking healthy. Shea butter can be applied daily and it can also be used to help protect the skin from the sun.
