Snacks for Preschool Lesson Plan: The Color White
Here are a few suggestions for white snacks:
– popcorn
– cottage cheese
– white bread
– mashed potatoes
-marshmallows
– milk
It doesn’t need to be winter to serve your preschool students snowman sugar cookies topped with white icing!
Art Center Activities for Preschool Lesson Plan: The Color White
Handprint lambs: Let your students each make Mary’s little lamb with their handprint. Paint each child’s hand with white paint, then have them press their hands on a sheet of black construction paper. Make sure their thumbs are pointed out, not down. The thumb is the head and neck of the lamb and the four fingers are its legs. When the handprints dry, have your students color on hooves, a little ear, nose and mouth. They can also color on an eye or you can give them each a tiny googly eye to glue on the thumb.
White shapes: Give each of your students sheets of white paper with a shape outlined on it. For example, you might give each preschooler a square, circle, triangle, rectangle and oval to cut out. After they cut out the white shapes, instruct your students to glue them onto sheets of black construction paper, one white shape per each sheet of black construction paper. Stack them on top of each other, make two hole punches on the left hand side and let your preschoolers lace a piece of white string through the holes. Tie the string and voila! A White on Black book of each child’s own creation!
Salt painting: Give each of your students a small paper cup with some white paint in it. Let them pour salt into the paint. Have them stir the concoction and then paint whatever they desire on a sheet of black construction paper.

Other Activities for Preschool Lesson Plan: The Color White
What white does: Show your students how stirring white paint into another color causes the other color to lighten. Be sure to let them see that just a little bit of white paint will cause only a small difference in the other color, but a large amount of white mixed in will cause the other color to fade greatly.
At circle time, let each child point out something white that they see in the classroom.
